 Manager, Advocacy and Stakeholder Operations

8 weeks, 240 hours contract with a $3,600 stipend.

I. Scope and Summary of Primary Responsibilities

As part of CNIB’s ongoing advocacy efforts under the Accessible BC Act, this internship will focus on leading the second phase of a research and engagement project that tracks the inclusion of blind, partially sighted, and Deafblind individuals on municipal accessibility advisory committees across British Columbia. Building on the first iteration, which reached out to over 80 public organizations, the intern will take ownership of the next stage by expanding outreach, analyzing and updating data, and supporting the development of a summary report with recommendations. This is a unique opportunity for a driven individual to meaningfully contribute to accessibility advocacy and stakeholder engagement at the government level.

II. Essential Functions:

  • You will review existing research documentation and build upon the foundation of previous project iterations.
  • You will identify and contact municipal, regional, and city-level organizations to gather up-to-date information on accessibility and representation.
  • You will revise outreach materials, including email templates and interview questions.
  • You will collect both quantitative and qualitative data through interviews and correspondence with external stakeholders.
  • You will track responses and organize documentation to maintain clear and consistent records.
  • You will conduct thematic analysis to uncover trends in municipal accessibility practices and inclusion across communities.
  • You will draft a clear, engaging final report outlining the research findings, response patterns, and insights gained.
  • You will provide concrete next steps based on data trends and recommend areas for future engagement.
  • You will present your findings and recommendations to internal or external groups, as required.

III. Qualifications

  • Excellent research, data collection, and analysis skills.
  • Experience in outreach, stakeholder communication, or municipal engagement preferred.
  • Strong writing and reporting skills, particularly in synthesizing information into clear insights.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools, especially Excel and Word.
