Account Receivables Specialist
Reports to: VP, Finance & Human Resources

We are seeking a detailed oriented and proactive Account Receivable Specialist to join our finance team in the vibrant Canadian travel industry. As an Accounts Receivable Specialist, you will be responsible for managing and maintaining accurate records of all incoming payments. This role requires strong organizational skills, a solid understanding of accounting principles and a passion for delivering exceptional service within the fast-paced travel sector.
Payment Processing:
o Process of daily bank deposits as well as incoming payments,
o Reconcile accounts receivable transactions and ensure all customer payments are accurately applied.
· Customer Account Reconciliation:
o Review and reconcile customer accounts to identify discrepancies or overdue payments.
o Communicate directly with clients to resolve payment issues, providing outstanding customer service.
· Collections:
o Follow up with customers on overdue payments and work to resolve any outstanding balances.
o Follow up with vendors on overdue commission payments
o Maintain professional relationships with clients while ensuring payments are collected in a timely manner.
Reporting:
o Prepare weekly and monthly reports on outstanding balances and payment status.
o Assist with aging reports, ensuring financial records are up to date.
· Collaboration:
o Work closely with the finance department to ensure accurate financial records and month-end close procedures.
Compliance and Record Keeping:
o Assist with audits and internal controls to support organizational financial integrity.
Qualifications:
· Minimum 2-3 years of experience in accounts receivable, preferably in the travel or hospitality industry.
· Proficient in travel accounting software (e.g., Trams/Tres, Agresso ) and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
· Strong knowledge of Canadian accounting principles and GST regulations related to the travel industry.
· Exceptional attention to detail with excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.
· Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
· Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
· Knowledge of travel industry billing processes.
· Fluency in both English and French (or another language) is an advantage.
