POSITION: Junior Accountant, Agriculture
REPORTS TO: Controller, Agriculture
LOCATION: Pitt Meadows Farm (Periodic travel to the Corporate Head Office)
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Lead AP team and processes
-
Prepare and process invoices, cheque payments, wire transfers, and EFTs
-
Monitor accounts to ensure timely payments and take advantage of early payment terms when appropriate
-
Assist with month-end closing activities, including accruals and AP subledger reconciliations
-
Investigate and resolve invoice discrepancies
-
Maintain accurate records in SAGE 300, ensuring up-to-date contact and banking details
-
Organize, file, and maintain paid invoice documentation and other supporting records
-
Liaise with internal departments to coordinate timely approvals and facilitate payment processing
-
Respond to audit and bank enquiries related to accounts payable
-
Perform bookkeeping functions
-
Perform reconciliation of various bank and GL accounts on a monthly-basis
-
Support month-end and year-end closing process
-
Assist in preparing year-end working papers for external auditors
-
Respond to inquiries regarding financial results and special reporting requests
-
Liaise with involved parties to provide timely, accurate financial results and analysis
-
Preparation of GST/HST return filings, ensuring compliance with applicable regulations
-
Preparation and maintenance of management reporting metrics
-
Various ad hoc and special projects
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:
-
A diploma or degree in accounting or equivalent
-
Minimum 1 year of full-cycle accounting experience
-
Desire to learn and grow in the accounting field, preference to those planning to enter the CPA PEP program
-
Proficiency in MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel) and accounting systems
-
Working knowledge of SAGE 300 would be an asset
-
Impeccable accuracy with numbers and high level of attention to detail

Excellent interpersonal skills

Strong communication skills (written and verbal)

Professional demeanor and presentation

Ability to work proactively both independently and in a team environment
