About the role
IT Systems & Support Specialist
(Construction & Mining Operations)
Keep the systems running. Keep the job moving.
At MacKay, everything we do in the field depends on what works behind the scenes.
From estimating and project controls to equipment tracking, payroll, and site connectivity. When our systems are dialed, our crews perform. When they’re not, everything slows down.
This role exists to make sure that never happens.
How you’ll contribute
You’ll be the person who keeps our digital infrastructure tight, reliable, and actually useful for the people doing the work.
Not only just fixing problems, but building systems that support how construction actually runs.
What you’ll get to do
-
Keep our core systems running smoothly across estimating, accounting, project controls, and field operations
-
Eliminate friction for our teams by making technology simple, reliable, and fast to use
-
Support and improve tools like Estimating, Project Management, Fleet Management, and ERP softwares.
-
Troubleshoot real-world issues from office setups to jobsite connectivity so crews stay productive
-
Help implement, roll out, and optimize new systems as we scale
-
Build structure around how we manage devices, users, access, and data
-
Work directly with leadership to make sure our tech actually supports how we operate. Not the other way around
What makes this role different
You’re not walking into a static IT environment.
You’re stepping into a company that is:
- Growing
- Upgrading systems
- Standardizing how we operate
- And pushing into new markets
There’s real opportunity here to shape how things are built, not just maintain what already exists.
Who this is for
You’ll fit this role if:
-
You like solving problems that actually matter to real operations
-
You can move between technical systems and real-world field challenges without getting stuck in either
-
You take ownership. If something’s broken, you don’t wait, you fix it
-
You’re comfortable working with people who expect things to work and don’t have time for excuses
-
You enjoy building structure
Your background likely includes
-
Experience supporting business systems, networks, and users
-
Familiarity with Microsoft environments (365, SharePoint, Teams, etc.)
-
Exposure to ERP, estimating, or project software is a strong plus
-
Experience in construction, mining, or industrial environments is a big advantage
What’s in it for you
-
Direct impact on how a growing contractor operates
-
A role that blends hands-on problem solving + system improvement
-
Exposure to major projects across civil construction and mining
-
Opportunity to grow into a systems lead / IT manager role as we scale
-
A team that values people who solve problems and make things better
The reality
This isn’t a quiet, sit-back IT role.
- Things break
- Crews need answers now
- Systems don’t always behave
- Priorities shift fast
But if you like being the person who keeps everything moving, you’ll thrive here.
Let’s talk
If you’re confident you can build and support systems that hold up in real-world operations, we want to hear from you.
