JOB PURPOSE:
The Process Technician has three primary responsibilities: 1) to restore flow, identify problems, and to correct problems: 2) protect the work centre from variation affecting quality, costs, production/schedule adherence and maintenance and 3) non-hierarchical role which performs production duties and provides support in the form of direction, guidance, relief, training, problem resolution and encouragement to personnel within the work centre. The Process Technician co- ordinates activities to ensure all standards are maintained and quality, costs, production/schedule targets are met.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Re-enforce adherence to the standards within the work centers regarding standardized work, health and safety, quality and maintenance.
Communicate quality concerns immediately.
Fill in for operators as required to keep cell operational.
Be able to perform any operation within the work centers and be able to transfer knowledge (train) others how to follow the standardized work.
Document all required information
Work independently with a minimum of direct Supervision.
Maintain good housekeeping standards and lead 5S improvement activities.
Follow all safety procedures
Ensure material sources are working to and maintaining the proper schedule, and ensure communication boards are filled out properly, to guarantee no work flow interruptions
Make sure materials are pre-staged
Ensure all quality standards are being met
Meet daily with incoming supervisor for fluid transition from shift to shift.
Drive the culture “ Preparing the next shift for success “
Focus points- Improvement to quality performance, reduction of scrap, improve thru-put , upgrade skill set of team members ( meet schedule attainment of min 90% sent )
Assist supervisor role as required ( vacation/absences reporting)
be a driver of continuous improvement
be a mentor of employees with best practices for cutting/milling techniques to improve safety and efficiency
BASIC KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
Secondary School Diploma or equivalent, preferred.
Complete Supervisor Health and Safety in 5 steps training
1 - 2 years related experience, preferably in the rubber industry.
Must possess leadership and interpersonal skills and be able to relay instructions clearly.
Mechanically inclined.
Ability to train others
Able to multitask
Safe and effective working environment
Accurate and on-time production reporting
Good dexterity and ability to operate various types of equipment
Good communication, organizational, time management skills.
Understanding of lean manufacturing, an asset.
Able to lift heavy objects specific to operation.
Basic computer skills.
Advanced degree of environment awareness
Demonstrated ability to analyze and effectively solve problems
