The Ministry of Parks, Culture and Sport, Parks Division has a challenging opportunity for a highly motivated, resourceful and well-organized individual with proven management skills who enjoys working in a diverse and collaborative environment. The Facilities Management Unit of the Park Planning and Facilities Management Branch is responsible for strategic facility planning and asset management in the provincial park system which is comprised of 34 provincial parks along with numerous recreation sites, historic sites and protected areas. Park assets typically include roads, buildings, heavy equipment, water/wastewater and electrical systems along with a range of other recreation and cultural facilities.
Reporting to the Executive Director, you will be responsible for providing leadership and oversight in the development of annual and long-term Parks Capital plans in alignment with strategic direction and supporting park operations. The successful candidate will lead the identification, development and prioritization of capital projects in collaboration with the Ministry of SaskBuilds and Procurement, to ensure program delivery through the government's integrated capital planning model. The position will manage the annual Preventative Maintenance Program for parks, ensuring available funding is allocated to the appropriate priorities and upgrades are completed as planned. The incumbent will direct unit activities, ensuring priorities, expectations and accountability are clearly communicated and work is completed to a high standard in a timely manner.
This position requires demonstrated management, communication and interpersonal skills and is accountable for a diverse team of professionals responsible for managing park assets and providing technical support to the Parks Division. The position requires familiarity with current asset management principles and the ability to apply related concepts to a wide range of park asset types. Typically, the knowledge and skills required for this position would be obtained through the completion of a degree in Architecture or Civil Engineering combined with a Project Management Professional or similar designation. The successful candidate will have a minimum of 5 years of experience in construction project/program management or capital facilities planning with progressive responsibility.
