The Sales Representative - Industrial is responsible for driving new sales, revenue, and growth of business within their assigned territory by proactively pursuing new customers and business opportunities. The Sales Representative will also maximize sales opportunities within a portfolio of existing customers.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Actively pursue the development of new business by identifying and calling on prospective customers over the phone, electronically, and in-person to initiate and build business relationships
- Present East Penn Canada products, warranties, and technical service capabilities as part of a highly tailored customer solution, using proven sales techniques and strategies
- Work with Sales Management and Key Account Representatives to establish territory goals and develop customer target lists, using information from trade publications, social media, business directories, and other sources
- Develop rapport and build solid business relationships with prospective client base, with the end-goal of gaining commitment to purchase East Penn products and services
- Maintain an up-to-date and active pipeline of new business prospects, managed through Salesforce CRM software
- Provide white-glove service to existing key and national accounts located within the assigned territory
- Establish and maintain solid partnering relationships with local site management; consistently providing a trusted advisor perspective
- Communicate all sales and advertising programs to dealers, existing client base, and sales prospects
- Assist with coordinating new product delivery and setup for all customer orders, and reliably report on lead times throughout the sales cycle
Experience, Skills & Competencies
- Must be fully bilingual (French/English)
- Post-secondary education in a business, sales, marketing, or similar program
- 5 to 7 years of experience in progressive direct business-to-business (B2B) outside sales
- Strong customer focus with the ability to coach others for exceptional customer service orientation
- Ability to build long-term relationships and credibility with external customers, as well as internal support functions (e.g., sales coordinators, service technicians, logistics)
- Ability to think outside the box to creatively and effectively identify, troubleshoot, and resolve issues in a timely manner
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills with the ability to deliver effective presentations
- Ability to handle objections by clarifying, emphasizing value proposition, and working through differences towards a win-win solution
- Proven ability to manage projects and prioritize tasks to consistently meet tight deadlines
- Excellent organizational skills and multi-tasking ability
- Proactive and goal-focused, with a passion for delivering outcomes that exceed expectations
- Strong computer skills with experience using CRM software (Salesforce experience an asset), MS Office tools such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, and other related tech tools
- Knowledge of industrial battery applications or sales experience relating to industrial, telecommunications or utility sectors is a considerable asset
Other Considerations
- Valid Class 5 driver’s license and clean driver’s abstract required
- Must be agreeable to daily travel within assigned territory, and up to 25% overnight travel (3-5 nights per month)
- Successful candidates will be required to participate in pre-employment checks which may include, but are not limited to, criminal records, employment verifications, professional references, and driver’s abstracts
