CHILD AND YOUTH WORKER – INTENSIVE SERVICES PROGRAM

Full-time Position in Timmins (FW Schumacher)

The Child and Youth Workers within the Intensive Service Program (ISP) are responsible to perform all direct work within its community-based live-in program for children and youth. Duties include, but are not limited to providing care and supporting the development of life skills and social skills for children and youth between the ages of 8-18 years of age. Other duties may also include intervention, monitoring and taking part in activities, completing records, logs and inventories, performing building safety and security checks, providing support to clients.

Job Requirements (qualifications And Skills)

Successful completion of a diploma and/or degree from an accredited College and/or University in Social Services, Human Services, Police Foundations, Community and Justice Program, Paramedic or Registered Practical Nursing (RPN) is preferred. A Personal Support Worker Certificates (Eight Months or longer) may also be considered. Must be willing and able to work flexible hours on an as-needed basis including days, evenings, and overnights. Must be willing to travel as necessary. Experience working with children, youth and families is considered an asset. Excellent interpersonal, time management, organizational and communication skills. Bilingualism (English /French) is an asset. Candidates must possess a minimum G2 driver’s license at the time of application and be willing to obtain a valid G Class driver’s license as a condition of employment or already possess a valid G Class driver’s license and have access to their own vehicle.

Le(a) travailleur(euse) auprès des enfants et des jeunes (services intensifs) est responsable d’effectuer tout le travail direct au sein de son programme pour les enfants et les jeunes. Les tâches comprennent, entre autres, l’intervention, la surveillance et la participation aux activités, la tenue de dossiers, de journaux et d’inventaires, les vérifications de sécurité et de sûreté des bâtiments et fournir un soutien aux clients.

EXIGENCES DE L’EMPLOI (QUALITÉS ET COMPÉTENCES REQUISES):

Un diplôme d’un collège ou d’une université accrédité en services sociaux, en services à la personne, en techniques des services policiers, en soins paramédicaux ou en soins infirmiers auxiliaires autorisés (IAA) est préférable. Un certificat de préposé(e) aux services de soutien personnel (huit mois ou plus) peut être considéré. Les étudiants à temps plein qui terminent actuellement leur dernière année d’études en vue de l’obtention d’un diplôme en services sociaux, en services à la personne ou en soins infirmiers peuvent être pris en considération. Doit être disposé et capable de travailler selon des horaires flexibles, en fonction des besoins, y compris, les jours, les soirs et les. Doit être disposé à voyager si nécessaire. De l’expérience de travail avec des enfants, des jeunes et des familles est un atout. D’excellentes aptitudes en matière de relations interpersonnelles, de gestion du temps, d’organisation et de communication. Le bilinguisme (français/anglais) est un atout. Les candidats doivent être titulaires d'un permis de conduire G2 au moment de leur candidature et être disposés à obtenir un permis de conduire G valide comme condition d'emploi, ou être déjà titulaires d'un permis de conduire G valide et avoir accès à leur propre véhicule.

North Eastern Ontario Family and Children’s Services (NEOFACS) is an integrated agency, providing services to children, youth and their families in the Districts of Cochrane and Timiskaming. Our client-responsive programs and services are innovative, evidence-based, and designed to meet the unique needs of those we serve.

Our Agency provides Child Welfare, Child and Youth Mental Health, Youth Justice and Prevention programs along with a number of other programs and services. NEOFACS is a non-profit charitable organization governed by a volunteer Board of Governors whose funding is received primarily from the Ministry of Children, Community and Social Services, the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care and the Ministry of the Attorney General. Several other funders support programs as well.

NEOFACS is designated under the French Language Services Act and as such provides services in both official languages.

The spectrum of children’s mental health services includes intervention, public education/prevention and supportive services to children, youth and their families. Our Agency also operates a program for children/youth between the ages of 12-15 that functions as a children’s mental health live-in treatment facility.

Our Child Welfare services include assessment, investigation, placement (when and where necessary) as well as, supportive services to children/youth and their families.

NEOFACS is visible in several communities in northeastern Ontario. Our head office is located in Timmins. Primary District campuses are located in Kapuskasing and Kirkland Lake; several other communities are also home to NEOFACS campuses and programs and services.
