Job Description

The Director of Operations is the senior operational leader overseeing all Canadian manufacturing, production, warehousing, distribution, toolroom, maintenance, quality, and engineering activities across all Canadian sites. This role carries day-to-day accountability for safety, quality, delivery, cost performance, and operational workforce leadership throughout TENTE’s multi-site Canadian operations. The Director helps develop and execute the Canadian manufacturing and engineering strategy, drives operational efficiency, strengthens technical capabilities, and leads continuous improvement initiatives. This position plays a vital role in supporting TENTE’s growth objectives, elevating operational performance, and fostering a high-performance, engaged, and safety-driven culture across all Canadian facilities.

Essential Responsibilities

1. Strategic Manufacturing Leadership Build and execute the Canadian manufacturing, distribution and technical strategy in alignment with company and global objectives. Provide unified leadership across all Canadian facilities, ensuring standardized processes and consistent performance expectations. Drive operational scalability, automation initiatives, and long-term capacity planning across multiple sites. Lead modernization efforts to strengthen plant performance, streamline operations, improve efficiencies, and reduce operational bottlenecks. Assess future capability needs and propose long-term manufacturing and technical roadmaps, technologies, and capital investments.

Operational Execution & Performance

Oversee daily operations across injection molding, assembly, warehousing, distribution, engineering, quality, and technical support functions at all Canadian locations. Ensure safe, efficient, and accurate production and shipment of products.

Manage KPIs across safety, quality, delivery, scrap, efficiency, inventory accuracy, and cost at each facility. Lead root cause analysis and ensure sustainable corrective actions for downtime, defects, supply disruptions, and workflow inefficiencies. Drive lean manufacturing, 5S, and Six Sigma methodologies to eliminate waste and increase throughput across all operations.

1. People Leadership & Workforce Development Lead and develop managers, supervisors, engineers, and staff across all Canadian sites, creating a cohesive and aligned operational culture. Build an accountable, engaged, and continuous-improvement-focused environment. Support workforce planning, technical development, cross-training, and succession planning across all plant and engineering functions. Partner with Employee Relations to proactively manage performance, safety, and workplace culture.

2. Quality, Safety & Compliance

• Provide leadership for the Canadian Quality function, ensuring compliance with customer requirements, ISO standards, regulatory requirements, internal quality systems, and continuous improvement initiatives across all manufacturing operations. Collaborate with Engineering, Maintenance, and Quality teams to introduce new equipment, processes, tooling, and control plans that improve uptime and reliability.

1. Toolroom & Maintenance Leadership Oversee Toolroom, Maintenance, and Engineering departments to ensure optimal tooling, mold, equipment, and process performance. Lead preventive and predictive maintenance programs to minimize downtime and extend equipment life. Guide engineering teams in supporting production, process optimization, tooling design, and technical problem-solving. Align engineering, production, and maintenance priorities across all sites for tooling repairs, mold improvements, and long-term asset planning.

2. Budget & Capital Management Develop and manage annual operating budgets for molding, production, engineering, warehousing, and distribution across all Canadian locations. Oversee labor planning, equipment utilization, maintenance programs, and facility operations, including the streamlining and integration of various location planning activities within Canada. Evaluate capital expenditures ensuring ROI and alignment with operational and engineering strategy. Maintain oversight of tooling life cycles, engineering project budgets, and facility infrastructure planning.

3. Cross-Functional Alignment Partner with all functional areas—including Supply Chain, Planning, Customer Service, Finance, HR — to ensure cohesive production scheduling and operational alignment. Coordinate communication and alignment across all Canadian sites to support consistent processes, shared priorities, and organizational cohesion. Provide operational and engineering leadership for product launches, engineering changes, localization projects, and continuous improvement efforts.

Required Qualifications and Skills

• Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing, Engineering, Operations Management, or related field.
• Minimum 10 years of progressive manufacturing leadership experience, including at least 5 years in a senior management role overseeing multiple departments.
• Proven success in injection molding, production/assembly, and distribution operations.
• Strong expertise in lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement methodologies.
• Exceptional problem-solving, decision-making, and analytical skills.
• Demonstrated ability to build and lead high-performance teams.
• Experience with ERP/MRP systems and modern manufacturing technologies.
• Professional, collaborative, and future-focused mindset with strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Physical & Environmental Requirements

• The position is based primarily at TENTE Canada’s Etobicoke facility and requires occasional travel to the other company locations as business needs require (Newmarket & Schomberg).
• Ability to work in a manufacturing and warehouse environment with exposure to noise, vibration, chemicals, dust, and moving equipment.
• Mobility to inspect operations across molding, assembly, warehouse, and distribution areas.
• Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, reach, climb, and navigate production floors.
• Must wear required PPE (e.g., safety glasses) in designated plant areas.
