Position: Visual Communications Specialist, Communications and Public Affairs

Position Summary :
The Visual Communications Specialist role will contribute to the planning, creation, and execution of visual and written content across digital and print platforms, implementing dynamic and strategic marketing campaigns to build the WRHN brand. The ideal candidate is a strong storyteller with a sharp eye for design, skilled in photography, short-form video production, and editing, as well as clear, engaging writing.

Position Responsibilities:
Content Creation and Storytelling
- Write, edit, and proofread engaging content for newsletters, blogs, press releases, websites, social media, and internal communications.
- Collaborate with teams and partners to gather stories and information for content development.
- Create fresh, engaging creative for print, digital, web, video and social media.
- Plan, shoot, and edit video content for internal and external platforms.
- Create short-form videos optimized for social media, promotional videos, interviews, and testimonials.
Graphic Design and Visual Communication
- Design digital and print assets, including infographics, social media graphics, reports, presentations, and event materials in alignment with brand guidelines.
- Support the development of visual identities for campaigns and initiatives.
- Capture high-quality photos at events and for day-to-day content needs.
- Maintain and organize a media library of images for future use.
Branding & Marketing + Digital Media & Platform Management
- Working with teams, assist in leading all design projects from start to finish, implementing strong brand identity and guidelines to maintain brand consistency.
- Assist in managing the organization’s digital presence, including websites, email newsletters, and social media platforms.
- Monitor performance metrics and make data-driven recommendations for content improvement.
Collaboration and Support
- Work closely with cross-functional teams including marketing, events, and leadership to ensure consistent messaging and brand representation.
- Support engagement opportunities and events.
- Support communication strategies and campaign execution from concept to completion.
Position Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in communications, Graphic Design, Multimedia Production, Journalism or Marketing.

Minimum 7 years of experience in content development, graphic design and video editing

Expert-level proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, Premiere Pro), CMS platforms (e.g., WordPress), email marketing tools and social media management tools.

Demonstrated proficiency and application of design principles to support Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) standards.

Strong understanding of typography, colour theory, composition, and layout for digital and print production.

Strong writing and editorial skills with an ability to tailor content for various audiences and platforms.

Experience with photography and videography (shooting, editing, and post-production).

Proven ability to work in a collaborative team environment and apply a positive team approach to working with internal and external stakeholders

Highly motivated and a self-starter with a proactive mindset and strong organizational skill and time-management skills

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Detail-oriented with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple deadlines.

Experience working with diverse partners, including clinicians, startups, and research institutions.
