Job Description Toast is recruiting on behalf of this company for a Software Deployment Specialist to join their Calgary-based team. This is a customer-facing position that blends software engineering, cloud infrastructure management, and customer success. The role focuses on ensuring smooth, secure, and stable deployments while providing exceptional technical support and maintaining strong client relationships.
The Software Deployment Specialist will lead both cloud and on-premises deployments, maintain CI/CD pipelines, and oversee the health and reliability of live systems. This role requires a calm, methodical approach in high-pressure situations and a commitment to creating a seamless experience for customers and internal teams alike.
Responsibilities Deployment & System Reliability
- Lead and execute software deployments (cloud and on-premises), ensuring stability and minimal disruption.
- Maintain and improve CI/CD pipelines (Azure DevOps preferred) for Dockerized applications.
- Monitor system performance, troubleshoot incidents, and address scalability or availability concerns proactively.
Customer Support & Success
- Serve as the primary technical contact for deployment-related topics.
- Communicate clearly and effectively with customer teams, guiding them through architecture, security, and go-live readiness discussions.
- Build strong relationships by providing responsive and knowledgeable support.
Infrastructure & Automation
- Support Azure infrastructure management, including container orchestration, storage, and networking.
- Implement and uphold security best practices (e.g., authentication, access control, infrastructure hardening).
- Identify opportunities to automate manual workflows and enhance operational efficiency.
Collaboration & Quality Assurance
- Work closely with Product, Development, and Customer Success teams to align on tools, features, and deployment needs.
- Participate in internal testing and QA processes to validate deliverables before release.
- Contribute to documentation and training to ensure clarity across technical teams and with customers.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical field.
- 2+ years of experience in software deployment, DevOps, or technical support.
- Hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure (storage, VM/container orchestration, networking); AWS experience is an asset.
- Proficiency with Docker, Linux-based systems, and cloud-native deployment practices.
- Knowledge of networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, load balancing) and infrastructure security.
- Experience with CI/CD tools (Azure DevOps preferred) and scripting or automation.
- Strong problem-solving, multitasking, and communication skills.
