Job Description

The Kitchenhood Technician(Fire System Technician) is responsible for installing, inspecting, servicing, and maintaining wet and dry chemical fire suppression systems. This includes associated piping, nozzles, and components, along with fire extinguishers and related life safety equipment. You’ll ensure all systems meet performance, safety, and code standards.

Task & Responsibilities:

  • Install Wet and Dry Chemical fire suppression systems and all associated components
  • Read and interpret plans, blueprints, and technical drawings
  • Ensure installations are performed safely and within the parameters of fire code and manufacturer specifications using a variety of ladders, lifts, hand tools and power tools
  • Perform semi-annual and annual inspections as required for fire systems, fire extinguishers and emergency lighting
  • Conduct testing as per code, local standards and manufacturer specifications for local jurisdiction when required
  • Prepare inspection reports and identify all deficiencies if any are present
  • Perform scheduled repairs on deficient fire systems

Other Duties:

  • Assist on-road technicians with a various assortment of required work
  • Perform deliveries/pickup at customer locations and suppliers where require.
  • Perform site visits where required
  • Participate in on-call rotation for emergency service after probationary period
  • Maintain a professional and positive attitude when dealing with customers
  • Maintain a clean and safe company vehicle when it is provided after probationary period

Qualifications:

  • Valid G-class driver’s license with a clean abstract

  • Personal Vehicle to travel to some jobsites

  • Strong mechanical aptitude with hands-on problem-solving ability preferred

  • Prior experience in wet/dry chemical fire systems and pipe fitting/threading an asset

  • Willingness to work occasional night shifts or travel out of town if needed

  • Physically fit to handle tools, ladders, and equipment safely

  • Comfortable working at heights

  • Comfortable working in confined spaces

  • Good interpersonal and customer service skills

  • Comfortable using digital/mobile inspection reports, job bookings and expense forms

  • Able to work solo or as part of a crew, including on active construction sites
