About the role
Holland Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation Hospital Foundation is seeking a dynamic fundraising and events professional with strong relationship building skills to join the Foundation’s Strategy and Public Engagement team. The Manager, Community Engagement is responsible for securing and managing a diverse portfolio of community events and ensuring event organizers are supported with the tools they need to raise awareness and funds for Holland Bloorview. This role reports to the Senior Director, Community Fundraising and is responsible for portfolio strategy, planning and execution, as well as managing two direct reports.

Key Responsibilities
Community events
- Develop strategy and set revenue targets for the Community Engagement portfolio in alignment with the Foundation’s strategic plan, including building and maintaining a pipeline of third-party event prospects
- Identify, develop and cultivate relationships to help sustain and proactively grow community event revenue
- Develop compelling proposals for prospects that align with Holland Bloorview’s funding priorities and donor interests
- Execute all aspects of Ready, Set, Dare – Holland Bloorview’s new DIY peer-to-peer fundraising initiative
- Provide excellent relationship management and support for event organizers including ongoing recommendations for optimizing their fundraising, organizing client ambassadors and spokespeople, consulting on accessibility practices, and supporting technical and collateral requirements.
- Create a bespoke stewardship experience for event organizers, and partner with Senior Director, Community Fundraising to steward event attendees
- Work with the Senior Director, Community Fundraising and the Manager, Integrated Marketing to develop marketing plans to support event acquisition
Capes for Kids
- Design and plan Capes for Kids activations, fundraiser experience events, and community events
- Support relationship management, fundraising and stewardship of a segment of Capes for Kids fundraisers
- Solicit and support Capes for Kids community fundraising events
Planning and Administration
- Coach and mentor the Community Engagement team (2 direct reports)
- Analyze program performance against set key performance indicators and industry benchmarks, and make recommendations for future strategies
- Plan and execute events for the Public Engagement team, including supporting employee fundraising events, stewardship events, and external activations.
- Create and maintain event pages on Engaging Networks platform
- Update and maintain donor records and generate reports using Raiser’s EdgeNXT
- Other duties as assigned
Job Requirements
- 3-5 years of fundraising experience, preferably in event planning, individual fundraising or equivalent
- Minimum of 2 years managing direct reports
- Demonstrated ability to build strong relationships with donors and experience working with senior volunteers or board members
- Proven track record of securing donations and exceeding fundraising goals
- Superior writing and communications skills including the ability to tailor proposals and reports to specific donor interests
- Superior people management skills
- Excellent project management skills and ability to manage competing priorities
- Excellent strategic and creative thinking skills
- Proven ability to exercise diplomacy and good judgment
- Self-starter with the ability to follow through on tasks with minimal supervision;
- Demonstrated understanding of issues related to disability and social justice and an understanding of the healthcare fundraising environment
- Proficiency in using fundraising systems and maintaining donor records
