You as a Network Specialist will:
- Provide technical support for all network hardware and software, document the troubleshooting process (identification to resolution), and maintain accurate technical records.
- Manage, support, and ensure the operational viability of LAN/WAN environments (both wired and wireless) during all hours of operation.
- Work to design, plan, test, implement and integrate various LAN/WAN systems including servers, firewalls, switches, wireless, applications, building systems, etc. within a network design framework.
- Contribute to the design, configuration and maintenance of network security and related applications.
- Where required, conduct backups, disaster prevention and recovery for all network components.
- Collaborate in a cross-functional role contributing to daily operations and identify efficiencies to bolster the success of the Team.
- Coordinate resources and provide hands-on technical expertise as a point of escalation to the other colleagues when needed.
- Conduct on site and remote support for clients to minimize downtime of systems.
- Work directly with clients to understand, address and effectively communicate their technology needs.
Is this the right role for you?
- Current CCNA required
- Diploma or degree in computer networking or a related field.
- 2+ years’ experience working with Cisco products in an enterprise or a multi-site environment leveraging equipment including switches, routers, firewalls, wireless controllers, Solarwinds etc.
- 1–2 years of experience providing on-site and remote client support is an asset.
- Experience with or interest in working with the following technologies is an asset: Palo Alto firewalls, Aruba and Meraki wireless networks, Server virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V)
- Experience in coordinating site work and advanced time management skills
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Strong interpersonal and consultative abilities
- Possess a valid driver’s license with access to a vehicle. Frequent site visits will be part of this role.
- Willing to travel (potentially out of province) as needed.
- Willing to work outside of regular business hours and be on-call for regularly scheduled periods.
