About the role
Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Draftsperson to prepare detailed drawings and technical documentation for industrial, or manufacturing projects. The ideal candidate will create fabrication drawings from 3D designs while following ANSI drafting standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Produce detailed 2D drawings, fabrication drawings, and assembly drawings based on engineering designs and specifications from 3D models
- Interpret engineering sketches, schematics, and specifications
- Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and fabricators to ensure drawings are accurate and constructible
- Update and maintain drawings, perform as-builts
- Support project teams during fabrication, or installation phases as needed
Skills and Qualifications
- SolidWorks proficiency required
- Strong understanding of mechanical, and structural systems
- Attention to detail and high accuracy in preparing drawings
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Knowledge of drafting standards, codes, and industry best practices
- Ability to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines
- Proficient in word, excel, and other office suite software
- Fluent in English
Skills to be considered assets
- Diploma or certificate in Drafting, Engineering Technology, or related field
- Experience in industrial, manufacturing, or machine shop environments
Education & Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Technical certification or vocational training
- 5+ years of hands-on Drafting/Detailing experience (or equivalent expertise)
Work Environment
- Office-based with occasional site visits as required
Position Information
- Monday to Friday
- Full-Time
- Must have valid drivers license and own reliable transportation
- Travel may be required in the Edmonton area
