What You’ll Do
Reporting to the Administrator, the Dietary Services Manager oversees the fast-paced day-to-day operation of the home's dietary department which involves the management of food service employees including the nutritional care of the residents of the facility and the supervision of staff. This includes nutrition consulting, meal planning, inventory control, budgeting and purchasing. The Manager coordinates dietary activities with other departments in the facility and ensures dietary department and food service adherence with provincial legislations, regulations and standards.
What We’re Looking For
Education & Experience
- Post-secondary diploma in Food and Nutrition Management or equivalent
- Current membership in the Canadian Society of Nutrition Management or current status as a Registered Dietitian
- Five years of previous experience in dietary services in a long-term care setting
- Two years of previous supervisory experience
- Safe Food Handling Certification as per O.Reg 493/17 of the Food Premises Act
Skills & Abilities
- Demonstrated knowledge of food service trends, quality, production, sanitation, food cost controls, preparation, and presentation
- Ability to delegate, set expectations, and monitor progress of all direct reports
- Experience with budget preparation and management
- Ability to identify measures of performance and actions needed to improve or correct performance
- Ability to plan, organize, develop, implement, and interpret goals, objectives, and policies
- Ability to supervise and motivate a team to achieve and exceed their goals
- Demonstrated time management skills
- Strong formal and informal leadership skills
