Job summary

The Building Maintenance Worker is responsible for the maintenance and repairs related to buildings, grounds and equipment. This role includes basic manual repairs and upkeep for various areas of the property.

Responsibilities:

Do you enjoy working with your hands, fixing things, and building products with attention to detail? Canadian Tire Langford is looking for a dependable and mechanically inclined team member to join our assembly team, with a strong focus on bicycle assembly and repairs.

This position is primarily responsible for assembling bicycles for customers and store displays, ensuring they are built safely, accurately, and to manufacturer specifications. The role will also assist with assembling a variety of other products throughout the store, perform skate sharpening services, and help with occasional minor maintenance tasks as needed.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Assemble and tune bicycles according to manufacturer specifications
  • Inspect assembled bicycles to ensure quality and safety standards are met
  • Diagnose and resolve minor assembly or mechanical issues
  • Assemble additional products including BBQs, patio furniture, lawn mowers, snow blowers, exercise equipment, trailers, ready-to-assemble furniture, and other seasonal merchandise
  • Perform skate sharpening services for customers
  • Perform product repairs and order missing or replacement parts when required
  • Maintain assembly tools and a clean, organized workshop area
  • Support customers with product questions, technical explanations, and basic service needs
  • Assist with warranty concerns and help explain repair or assembly issues to customers when required
  • Assist with occasional minor maintenance and repair tasks around the store
  • Follow all health and safety procedures

Requirements / Skills

Requirements:

  • Ideally 3+ years of experience in a role involving mechanical assembly, repairs, construction, maintenance, or similar hands-on work
  • Ideally knowledge of and experience working with bicycles, including assembly and basic repairs
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail
  • Must be organized and able to maintain a clean and efficient workshop area
  • Strong communication and customer service skills
  • Comfortable speaking with customers about technical products, repairs, and warranty-related concerns
  • Comfortable using hand and power tools
  • Ability to work independently and stay organized
  • Positive attitude and willingness to learn
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs regularly
  • Comfortable working in a physically demanding and active role that involves standing, lifting, bending, and moving products throughout the day
