The preferred location for this role is our Vancouver office. Other WSP locations in British Columbia will be considered.

What you can expect to do here:

  • Take on the role of Project Manager and/or Process-Mechanical Lead acting as Professional of Record and Qualified Professional for various existing facility upgrade and greenfield municipal wastewater treatment projects.
  • Manage and oversee all aspects of municipal wastewater treatment projects, from planning and design to construction and commissioning. Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and meet the highest quality standards in accordance with WSP’s Professional Practice Management Plan.
  • Provide technical direction, guidance and coordinate effectively with a diverse multi-disciplinary team of professionals, including engineers, technicians, and support staff.
  • Supervise, and mentor junior and intermediate staff towards efficient completion of project tasks and deliverables while fostering a culture of continuous learning and technical excellence.
  • Drive project success by overseeing design deliverables, budgets, schedules, and quality assurance processes.
  • Cultivate strong relationships with clients, understand their needs, and provide solutions to their technical challenges. Act as the primary point of contact for clients throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Engage in strategic business development, establish and build client relationships, and contribute / lead proposal development.
  • Drive innovation and creativity in developing water and wastewater treatment solutions. Utilize WSP's extensive resources to find cutting-edge approaches that address complex challenges effectively.
  • Manage project budgets, resource allocation, and financial performance. Optimize resource utilization and identify potential cost-saving opportunities. Work closely with other departments and disciplines within WSP to ensure a holistic approach to project delivery. Foster cross-functional collaboration and knowledge sharing.

What you’ll bring to WSP:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in related engineering field (Environmental, Civil, Mechanical, Chemical or Process). Master’s or Doctorate degree preferred.
  • Registered as a Professional Engineer in the province of BC. Professional Registration in other Canadian provinces considered an asset.
  • 15 + years progressive experience in municipal wastewater treatment plant planning, design and construction. 5+ years working in a consulting engineering environment preferred.
  • Understanding and demonstrated experience with Provincial and Federal regulations governing wastewater treatment plants and discharges including experience with permit applications/regulatory support.
  • Experience delivering studies, feasibility, concept designs, and detail design of wastewater treatment solutions in the municipal sector including conventional primary and secondary treatment, tertiary treatment and other advanced treatment, and resource recovery processes.
  • Understanding and demonstrated experience with long term planning studies for water and wastewater infrastructure including Liquid Waste Management Plans, and Master Planning studies.
  • Knowledge and experience with industry codes/standards and local municipal standards and guidelines.
  • Advanced Proficiency with wastewater process and hydraulic modelling software such as BioWin, GPS-X, SUMO, Visual Hydraulics, OpenFlows
  • Excellent knowledge of industry-standard design and digital tools and such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, BIM, Revit, Plant 3D and proven ability to communicate and coordinate effectively with drafting teams.
  • Strong project management and discipline lead skills and proven ability to work and coordinate effectively with multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Demonstrated experience in construction phase engineering support including preparation of construction drawings, and technical specifications, and supporting procurement processes. Experience in Alternative Project Delivery is considered an asset.
  • Proven ability to prepare high quality written technical reports and deliver verbal presentations to a high level of quality assurance for a variety of audiences.
  • Demonstrated ability supervising and mentoring junior staff.
  • Experienced in business development and building client relationships including being a key contributor and proposal development lead. Ability and willingness to travel for client meetings and visit operational works and construction sites as required.

Compensation:

Salary range (in British Columbia): $113,500 - $156,000.

The final salary awarded for this role may vary from the above range based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, and business or organizational needs. The salary range provided in this job posting may be subject to change for business purposes.
