The role in a nutshell: In this role, the Logistics and Supply Chain Coordinator is essential to the various logistics functions within NorFalco’s business of sulfuric acid supply, offering support to senior members of the Logistics and Supply Chain teams. The candidate will work closely with colleagues across Logistics and Supply Chain and engage with multiple departments, including Traffic, Sales, and Technical Services, as well as field offices. Additionally, this role includes providing backup support to the Traffic Team as needed, in coordination with the Traffic Manager.
More specifically, you will be expected to:
- Assist the Logistics team with tasks related to rail, truck, barge, vessel, and terminal handling.
- Coordinate inventories at inland transload terminals, managing shipments to and from terminals and overseeing asset management for rail, truck, or vessel shipments.
- Monitor customer inventory requirements to ensure a reliable supply of sulfuric acid both in transit and on-site.
- Communicate effectively with freight suppliers to maintain a dependable supply chain.
- Liaise with carriers and terminals to address operational issues and facilitate the movement of empty and loaded rail cars.
- Review terminal and truck lanes to identify the most economical transportation options.
- Maintain comprehensive databases for carrier freight and suppliers.
- Input orders and shipment/billing information into SAP.
- Audit transportation-related invoices prior to payment submission.
- Engage daily with producers, customers, logistics vendors, warehouses, agents, carriers, and field offices to organize and manage supply chain deliveries.
- Oversee the release of materials in and out of warehouses.
- Negotiate and present cargo and shipment documentation.
- Process documents related to payments, receivables, and claims.
- Contribute to the development of bid proposals and rate quotations.
Do you have what it takes?
- A university degree in commerce, economics, logistics, engineering, or a related field.
- 1-3+ years of experience in logistics, supply chain, and sourcing, preferably in commodity handling and fleet management.
- Commitment to an in-office presence five days per week.
- An effective collaborator with a structured work style that accommodates change.
- Highly organized with efficient work habits and keen attention to detail.
- Curious and willing to grow, with a serious interest in advancing one's career.
- Proficient in IT applications, including MS Office, SAP, and typical order management systems.
- Proficient in analytical and problem-solving methods to navigate complex logistics challenges.
Travel: Occasional travel may be required.
Language : Advanced proficiency in English and French (verbal and written) is mandatory. The knowledge of French is beneficial.
Location: Corporate office in Toronto.
