Description What you’ll be doing
Organization: Ben Stelter School Fundraiser (BSSF)
Volunteer Executive Role: Director of Marketing
Role Manager: Aariz Mawji, Founder & Director
Managing Departments: Promotions, Social Media, Creative Writing
Role Overview: The Director of Marketing is an executive role that looks over the following teams: Social Media,
Creative Writing & Promotions. The Director of Marketing will spearhead the overall marketing,
media & publicity of the organization. Speaking & reaching out to local media, deciding the
marketing strategies and campaigns run, and running the overall marketing of the organization
are all big aspects of this role. The role duration will be from April 2026 to January 2027, with
the role being heavier in the late spring to early fall months and lighter in the later fall to winter
months.
Key Responsibilities:
- Speaking & reaching out to local media outlets, promoting the BSSF
- Managing the publicity of the BSSF, spearheading the social media team
- Manage the sponsorship program & sponsor / partner relations
- Determine & approve marketing promotions and budgets
- Pitch to principals & teachers on why they should join the BSSF
- Update the team & board on marketing milestones
Requirements:
- Applicants for this role must be Edmonton / surrounding area grade-school students in grades
9-12 during the 2026-2027 school year.
- Leadership experience in marketing & public speaking is recommended
- Ability to manage a time commitment of approximately 7-10 hours a week in busy times
