About the Role

As Electrical Engineer you will work closely with the Owner’s Team and external contractors, ensuring technical accuracy and project goal adherence. Key responsibilities include leading technical activities, providing guidance to Engineering contractors, overseeing design development, tracking progress, reviewing technical documentation, and liaising with third-party suppliers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead all technical activities including design, engineering, procurement support, Supplier quality, commissioning and start-up planning.
  • Review technical documentation, specifications, drawings, and calculations provided by the Engineering contractor and ensure compliance to codes, standards, industry best practices, and project specifications.
  • Support the bidding and Supplier selection process for Electrical equipment packages (e.g. HV substation, transformers, switchgears, emergency power generators, etc).
  • Lead technical evaluation of equipment supplier proposals and ensure cost effective solutions are selected.
  • Support Installation and Commissioning of equipment.
  • Address any discrepancies or deviations from project specifications.
  • Ensure adherence to project schedule and budget for assigned equipment packages and manage changes using established “management of change” procedures and tools.
  • Identify risks that could impact cost, schedule, quality, or safety and propose mitigation plan. Ensure mitigation plans are reviewed by stakeholders and actions are driven to completion.
  • Visit supplier facility during fabrication to monitor progress and quality

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline
  • Minimum of 10 years' relevant experience, preferably in large-scale industrial projects
  • Licenced with Professional Engineers of Ontario
  • PMP Certification is an asset.
  • Proficient in relevant codes, standards, and regulations in Canada
  • Availability to travel internationally.

Location: South West Ontario (specific location TBC)

  • Onsite, initially hybrid with visits to engineering offices, contractor offices and other team meetings.
