Vacancy Title: Apprentice Service Technician
Vacancy Location: Delta, BC, Canada
Engagement Type: Full-time
The Role Here at Survitec, we are currently recruiting for an Apprentice Service Technician to join our operations based in Delta, BC.
This role supports qualified technicians to install, maintain or repair Survitec products across one or more product categories, whilst working towards becoming fully competent. It is focused on delivering Survitec standard work to maintain and uphold right first time and operational efficiency. Successful completion of technical product training and the demonstration of applying that learning through competence assessment results in progression to Service Technician
Key responsibilities for the Service Apprentice Service Technician role include, but are not limited to:
- Supports qualified Service Technician to install, maintain and repair Survitec safety equipment to standard. This includes learning to deliver discrete steps within the core servicing process under own supervision, as well as working alongside qualified technicians to learn and practice more complex steps under full supervision.
- Supports the Service Operations team to implement controlled changes to process to deliver continuous improvement.
- Helps specialists set up and test new products or processes; installs complex systems according to training and competence level, seeking guidance and support where needed
- Carries out preventive maintenance inspections under supervision, developing the skills to identify and diagnose requirement for equipment and systems emergency repairs
- Develops knowledge and understanding of Survitec policies and procedures and of relevant regulatory codes and codes of conduct to ensure own work adheres to those standards, completing personal development path towards becoming competent in core Survitec product categories
- Follows Survitec Health, Safety and Environment policies, procedures and mandatory instructions; identifies and raises risks to safeguard the environment and the wellbeing of self and others
- Develops own capabilities by participating in assessment and development planning activities as well as formal and informal training and coaching; works towards competence in multiple product lines, to become part of a flexible service operations workforce
- Develops and maintains an understanding of relevant technology, external regulation and industry best practices through ongoing personal development
- Follows stores requisition processes to maintain accurate stock levels and records
- Contributes to creating an environment where everyone in the team can live the Survitec Values.

About You
- Essential criteria:
- Must be able to obtain a government-controlled Port Pass and pass the background check/security requirements to obtain the Marine Transportation Security Clearance (MTSC).
- Hold a Valid BC Driver’s License and government-issued passport.
- Work with a high degree of accuracy where attention to detail is key.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
- Very good English language skills, verbally & written.
- Strong commitment to meeting work schedules.
- Willingness to travel locally and internationally for completing service work and training as needed.
- Flexibility to work weekends when required (e.g. Attendance at deployments/exchanges is mandatory when & where cruise ships or ferries call into port).
- Availability to work overtime as necessary to meet service, maintenance, or repair deadlines.
- Help to foster a “teamwork” attitude inter-departmentally and with industry partners.
- Help to foster a “Safety Culture” within the MES Service department and the Service Station.
