About the role
Vulcraft Canda West is seeking a talented, motivated and detail-oriented leader to join our team in the position of Technical Engineering Supervisor. The Engineering Supervisor will be responsible for leading structural engineers, detailers, and shop order teams. This individual will also be responsible for:
- Developing and implementing employee training, providing performance appraisals, mentoring and coaching, and recruiting.
- Managing the design, detailing, and shop order schedules, as well as performing project design when required.
- Control, maintain and supervise all engineering processes ensuring we meet or exceed applicable specifications and standards, and guarantee our customers a safe and accurate product while protecting the interests of both our customer and Nucor Corporation.
- Learn the technical aspects of the design, detailing and manufacturing of open web steel joist and metal deck products.
- Providing “World Class” service, meeting customer needs quickly and effectively.
- Partner with the Division Leadership team to drive continuous improvement.
- Support Business Development through customer and specifier interactions promoting Nucor’s value proposition and cultivating deeper partnerships.
- Demonstrate and champion the values of Nucor’s culture.
- Demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.
- Perform additional duties as required by management.
Minimum Qualifications and Education Requirements
- Licensed Professional Engineer or ability to obtain Professional Engineer designation within 1 year of appointment.
- 5 years (minimum) of structural engineering experience in a related field.
- 3 years (minimum) of successfully leading a team.
- Valid passport with the ability to travel to the United States when required.
- Engineering experience in steel joists, metal deck or steel fabrication and erection is preferred.
- CWB welding engineer experience is preferred.
