P&H Milling

P&H is the largest Canadian-owned milling company. The P&H Milling Group sources wheat from Western Canada, Ontario, Quebec, and Atlantic Canada to produce quality flour and cereal products. The lineup includes hard red spring wheat flour for breads and other bakery products, soft winter wheat flour for cakes and cookies, as well as semolina flour for pasta, organic flour, and atta flour for chappati. In our specialty milling operation in Saskatoon, we also mill pea fractions.

From its mills in Halifax, Nova Scotia; Acton, Hanover, Hamilton, and Cambridge, Ontario; Saskatoon, Saskatchewan; and Lethbridge, Alberta, the P&H Milling Group supplies flour to customers throughout Canada, the United States, the Caribbean, the Middle East, Iceland, and Pacific Rim countries.

Your Role

Wage: $30.38 per hour

Night Shift: 23:00 – 7:00 including weekends

As a Material Handler, the successful candidate will be responsible for packaging finished product as well as performing various general labour duties within the Mill. Ability to work overtime on weekends and extended shifts is required.

Day to Day

  • Package finished products into totes or paper bag containers, ensuring product is distributed into packaging at the correct weight.
  • Responsible for production documentation, labelling and for distributing products to designated locations within the warehouse.
  • Prepare and complete required documentation and labels for production and shipping.
  • Weigh, load and unload trucks with products including wheat, flour, Millfeeds and Feed Mids.
  • Conduct inventory of flour packaging materials.
  • Maintain a clean work area and perform sanitation duties within the plant including sweeping and vacuuming.
  • Comply with all related Standard Operating Procedures and complete all required reports according to BRCGS, HACCP and Food Safety Program.
  • Participate in fumigation/heat treatment cleanup.
  • Complete and comply with all health, safety and food safety training relating to the job.
  • Perform other operations duties as required and assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a general labourer position
  • Previous experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Physically fit with the ability to safely lift and stack 25 kg bags
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions and problem-solving skills
  • Reliable and dependable with ability to work shiftwork, overtime and weekends as require
  • Ability to operate a forklift and obtain a valid forklift license.
  • Able to work in environments subject to dust allergens and higher temperatures as well as in all outside weather conditions
