Job Description We are seeking a detail-oriented and technically skilled individual to join our team as a Regulatory Compliance Specialist. In this role, you will be responsible for creating and managing Safety Data Sheets (SDS) for a variety of products, advising on regulatory compliance for product labeling, and closely monitoring evolving regulatory standards in North America. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background, a keen understanding of regulatory landscapes, and the ability to ensure full compliance with chemical safety and labeling requirements.

Job Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain Safety Data Sheets (SDS) in accordance with regulatory requirements such as OSHA’s Hazard Communication Standard (HCS), WHMIS (Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System), and GHS (Globally Harmonized System).
- Ensure accuracy and periodic updates of SDS to reflect product composition, new regulations, or hazard classifications.
- Collaborate with internal teams, such as R&D and Laboratory staff, to collect and analyze product data and chemical compositions.
- Advise teams on regulatory labeling requirements, including hazard symbols, precautionary statements, and product identifiers.
- Review and approve product labels to ensure full compliance with applicable global and regional standards (e.g., GHS, FIFRA, TSCA).
- Provide guidance on placement, formatting, and language of precautionary information as required by regulatory guidelines.
- Monitor and analyze developing regulatory issues in North America, including the United States, Canada, and relevant territories.
- Stay abreast of evolving federal, state, and provincial regulations (e.g., EPA, Health Canada, Proposition 65, etc.) that impact company products or operations.
- Assess regulatory risks and regularly communicate updates or necessary changes to internal stakeholders.
- Work with cross-functional teams to support product lifecycle management from a regulatory perspective.
- Provide training, guidance, and technical expertise to internal teams on regulatory matters and compliance topics.
- Collaborate with external regulatory bodies and consultants as necessary.
- Maintain accurate records of SDS, labels, and regulatory correspondence.
- Prepare compliance reports and ensure documentation is audit-ready.
- Development of accurate and audit ready documentation systems
- Assigned to key priority projects on a needs basis
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Environmental Science, Regulatory Affairs, or a related technical discipline. Advanced degree preferred.
- A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in regulatory affairs, SDS development, or related roles (preferably within the chemical, manufacturing, or consumer goods industries).
- Experience with GHS and regional labeling regulations.
- Proficiency in SDS authoring software (e.g., Chemwatch, SDS Authoring Tool).
- Strong understanding of chemical hazards, toxicology, and classification systems.
- Familiarity with regulatory frameworks such as OSHA, EPA, TSCA, WHMIS, Prop 65, and SARA Title III.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and time-management abilities.
- Attention to detail and high level of accuracy.
- Certifications in Regulatory Affairs (need to look up what those would be)
- Knowledge of sustainability regulations or eco-labeling standards.
