What is the opportunity?
As the Director, Loss Mitigation Strategy, you are responsible for the development, implementation, and monitoring of the Loss Mitigation (Triage & Collection) strategy and activity for the Canadian lending portfolio. The role requires liaising with the Operations team as well as the modeling team to develop cost optimized Collections strategies and implement them as well as lead a team in developing strategies that optimizing the balance between risk, reward and operational efficiency.
What will you do?
- Develop Collections & Triage strategy for multiple retail products as well as Business products leveraging advanced analytics and machine learning techniques
- Performance monitoring and reporting for relevant customer segments, enabling actionable insight for key stakeholders, including Group Risk Management
- Manage a team of four associates, lead end-to-end stakeholders meetings with senior management in Group Risk Management, Products and Collection to:
- understand and propose new strategies designed to help achieve business targets.
- obtain approval of credit strategies with concise rationale supported by comprehensive analysis and documentation
- Recommend opportunities and drive initiatives that will enhance portfolio performance or improve existing processes
- Work with Implementation Team (TRIAD/PROBE) to ensure changes are exhaustively tested.
- Cross-functional stakeholder management of Operations and GRM teams.
- Monitor any changes in portfolio Risk to pre-empt stress to Collections.
What do you need to succeed?
Must Have
- Minimum 7 years’ experience with performing advanced analytics for lending products, ideally in portfolio management or collections.
- Strong knowledge of data analysis tools such as SQL, Python/R, SAS
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
- Demonstrated track record of thought leadership.
- Strong interpersonal, communication and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate a compelling business case to business partners.
- MBA, and/or undergraduate degree in Economics, Statistics or other quantitative field of study.
Nice to Have
- Deep knowledge about Credit products or Collection
