Introducing the National Arts Centre The National Arts Centre (NAC) is Canada's bilingual, multi-disciplinary home for the performing arts. The NAC presents, creates, produces, and co-produces performing arts programming in various streams-the NAC Orchestra, Dance, English Theatre, French Theatre, Indigenous Theatre, and Popular Music and Variety-and nurtures the next generation of audiences and artists from across Canada. The NAC is located in the National Capital Region on the unceded territory of the Anishinabe Algonquin Nation.

Job Reports To:

Senior Box Office Coordinator

Key Activities

Under the direction of the Senior Box Office Coordinator, the Box Office Agent engages with and nurtures relationships with our customers in order to foster long-term loyalty. The Box Office Agent provides gold-standard patron care by handling patrons’ inquiries and helping them find the right tickets or subscription package; by proactively offering information and options to enhance the patrons’ experience; by consistently and accurately recording and using key customer data; and by striving for first contact problem resolution. The Box Office Agent regularly helps patrons resolve issues with accessing and navigating the accounts holding their tickets.

The Box Office Agent maintains up-to-date knowledge of all related tools and systems, with particular focus on Archtics and Tessitura. They are expected to be familiar with the NAC’s facilities , programming, services and policies, to ensure an exceptional patron experience. The Box Office Agent helps with outreach initiatives to connect further with our patrons, and performs other administrative tasks related to event promotions, ticket sales and continuous improvement.

Skill Requirements

  • Fluently bilingual in both official languages, written and spoken;

  • High School diploma ;

  • Experience in customer service, with a minimum of one year of related experience;

  • Experience in dealing with various monetary transactions;

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills;

  • Ability to work well under pressure and with a team;

  • Ability to follow detailed instructions;

  • Strong problem-solving skills, organizational ability and initiative;

  • Strong familiarity and comfort with a computerized environment;

  • Must be available for evenings, weekends and holiday shifts;

  • Weekday availability is an asset;

  • Experience in ticket sales is an asset;

  • Experience in Microsoft Teams is an asset;

  • A past record of satisfactory attendance and punctuality is a requirement*.

  • Regular attendance at work is an expectation of employment and an essential part of every job.
