About the Role
The Assistant Business Development Manager, Automotive Lending will be employed by CanCap and dedicated to supporting CIBC Auto Finance.
Working in a hybrid environment with on-site days at CIBC Square with the need to travel to CanCap offices from time to time, this role is part of a collaborative initiative between CanCap and CIBC focused on supporting CIBC’s automotive lending business.
You will partner with the CIBC Auto Finance team in the development, planning, and execution of business development strategies and dealer engagement initiatives that create value for both CIBC clients and automotive dealers.
This position combines marketing support, relationship management, event coordination, and operational excellence to help drive growth and strengthen CIBC’s presence in the automotive finance market.
What Your Day and Week Could Look Like
Program & Partner Support
- Collaborate with CIBC Auto Finance leaders to plan and execute new business development initiatives, sponsorships, and dealer engagement campaigns.
- Support cross-functional teams to align priorities, schedules, and resources across marketing, product, and operations.
- Assist in developing materials and presentations that communicate value propositions to internal and external stakeholders.
- Track and measure the performance of initiatives, providing insights and recommendations for improvement.
- Support processing marketing/sponsorship related invoices and track spending diligently against a pre-planned budget.
Event Planning & Coordination
- Work with product and sales teams to plan and execute dealer events, sponsorships, and marketing activations.
- Manage event logistics end-to-end—venue coordination, communications, promotional material, and follow-up.
- Ensure brand consistency, operational excellence, and clear communication across teams throughout each initiative.
Collaboration & Communication
- Partner closely with multiple business units within both CanCap and CIBC to ensure alignment of goals and expectations.
- Prepare regular updates, summaries, and reports to leadership on program activities and outcomes.
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with internal stakeholders and external dealer partners.

What You’ll Bring
- 2–3 years of experience in business development, marketing, or relationship management, preferably within financial services or automotive finance.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, SharePoint) and comfort with digital tools.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated ability to plan and execute events or marketing initiatives from start to finish.
- Bilingualism (English/French) is an asset.
Reporting Relationship
This position reports to CanCap’s Sales Effectiveness Manager, with day-to-day direction provided by CIBC Auto Finance leadership.
