What you’ll be doing

The Lighting & Controls Solutions Specialist is a sales-driven role responsible for growing lighting and controls revenue within an assigned territory. The role owns annual sales results, develops new and existing customer relationships, and delivers lighting and controls solutions from initial engagement through close, combining strong sales execution with technical expertise.

SALES PERFORMANCE & BUSINESS GROWTH

Sales Performance & Business Growth
Own and achieve the annual Lighting & Controls sales target within the assigned territory
Grow Lighting & Controls sales by expanding existing customer relationships while developing new customer opportunities
Identify and pursue new business opportunities for lighting and controls in the commercial, industrial, and contractor markets
Build, manage, and convert a strong pipeline of Lighting & Controls opportunities across multiple market segments and verticals
Develop and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders including architects, engineers, contractors, energy consultants, and facility managers
Identify, pursue, and close lighting and controls projects by uncovering customer needs and presenting value‑based solutions
Maintain accurate records of sales leads, opportunity pipeline, and customer interactions in CRM systems

LIGHTING & CONTROLS SOLUTION SELLING
Conduct lighting audits and site assessments to uncover revenue‑generating upgrade opportunities
Design lighting layouts and develop complete, competitive lighting and controls proposals
Support customers by identifying and leveraging available utility incentives and energy‑efficiency programs to improve project ROI and close opportunities
Present solutions that align with customer goals, budgets, and return‑on‑investment expectations
Leverage technical expertise to effectively position lighting fixtures, LED technologies, and control systems against competitive alternatives

CUSTOMER, BRANCH & INTERNAL SUPPORT
Act as the lighting and controls specialist supporting branch teams and sales partners in driving opportunities
Support quotations, specifications, and product selection to secure lighting and controls business
Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure effective execution and conversion of lighting opportunities into sales

VENDOR & MARKET ALIGNMENT
Actively support, promote, and grow business with aligned lighting and controls vendor partners
Drive sales through vendor programs, product launches, and strategic initiatives
Stay current on lighting, controls, and industry trends to identify new revenue opportunities and competitive advantages

KEY RESULTS/ OUTCOMES
Consistent achievement of annual Lighting & Controls sales targets
Increased revenue and market penetration within the assigned territory
Strong and well‑qualified pipeline of lighting and controls opportunities
High conversion rate of audits and proposals into closed business
Sustained growth of both existing and new customer accounts
Improved vendor performance through strong alignment and execution

What you bring to the table

Minimum 3–5 years of experience in lighting, electrical distribution, or a related sales environment
Proven experience selling lighting and controls solutions
Post‑secondary education in Electrical Technology, Business, or a related field is considered an asset
Strong understanding of lighting fixtures, LED technologies, and lighting control systems
Ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications, and project documentation
Proficiency with lighting layout tools, quotation platforms, CRM systems, and Microsoft Office
Proven ability to build pipeline, close deals, and consistently achieve sales targets

Highly motivated, results‑driven, and accountable for sales performance
Strong relationship‑builder with a consultative, solution‑selling approach
Organized and disciplined in managing multiple opportunities simultaneously
Comfortable working independently in the field while collaborating with internal teams
Willing and able to travel regularly within the assigned territory
