St. Clement's School is seeking a Director of Information Technology (IT) and Data Strategy (Director) to join our team on a full-time basis commencing in July 2026. The Director is the senior leader responsible for shaping and implementing the School's vision for technology and data management. As a member of the Senior Administrative Team, the Director provides strategic leadership for IT infrastructure, cybersecurity and data governance for the effective support of academic and operational needs of the School. The Director oversees digital systems and strategy, including data governance, cybersecurity, and privacy compliance to create a secure, reliable, and future‑ready technology environment. This role balances high-level digital transformation, including the responsible integration of AI, with the hands-on management of a dedicated IT team to ensure a secure, sustainable, and future-ready academic environment.
This position offers a unique opportunity to lead a strong Information Technology department in a dynamic educational environment driving innovation, data strategy and meaningfully contributing to the effective use of technology to enhance learning outcomes.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Strategic Leadership & Innovation
- Working collaboratively with academic, business and operations, and IT staff, develop and execute a comprehensive technology roadmap aligned with the School's mission and strategic priorities;
- Advise leadership on digital transformation, emerging technologies, and the ethical integration of AI and digital systems;
- Collaborate with academic and operational leaders to ensure technology is in place to enhance the Grade 1-12 curriculum and daily school life and operations;
- Identify opportunities for innovation and process efficiency through modern technical solutions; and
- Continual development and maintenance of the School's cybersecurity strategy, including prevention, monitoring, and incident response.
IT Operations & Infrastructure
- Provide leadership, vision, and day-to-day management of the IT department, including data network and backup systems, cybersecurity, databases, servers, printers, and telephone systems;
- Oversee all school-wide infrastructure, including network reliability, cloud services, classroom A/V, and core enterprise systems;
- Manage the full asset lifecycle: purchasing, licensing, inventory, and maintenance of hardware/software;
- Direct the IT budget, approving all technology-related expenditures across the School;
- Lead the IT Helpdesk and technical support teams to ensure a high-standard user experience for faculty, staff, and students; and
- Manage vendor relationships and contracts.
Data Strategy, Security & Compliance
- Serve as the School's Privacy Officer, overseeing technology policies, data governance, access protocols, and privacy practices;
- Oversee the cyber security program and infrastructure for the School;
- Develop and maintain robust cyber security incident response plans, risk and privacy impact assessments, and proactive countermeasures against emerging threats;
- Ensure regulatory compliance regarding data protection, privacy, and information stewardship; and
- Standardize enterprise architecture to ensure scalability, interoperability, and secure identity management (SSO/MFA).
Team Leadership & Collaboration
- Mentor and manage the IT team, fostering a culture of service-orientation, professional growth, and collaboration;
- Lead security awareness training and professional development sessions for the broader school community;
- Maintain a collegial, supportive environment, handling confidential material with the utmost discretion.
QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE,ANDATTRIBUTESOFTHE IDEAL CANDIDATE
- Post-secondary education in computer science, business, engineering, or related field;
- Progressive experience managing IT operations including information security and/or enterprise architecture (minimum 5 years);
- Strong leadership and managerial skills with excellent interpersonal and communication abilities and the ability to handle confidential material and situations with discretion and sensitivity;
- In-depth knowledge of networks, infrastructure, and operating systems;
- Experience with cloud security and architecture is preferred;
- Works collaboratively in a collegial and supportive manner;
- Demonstrates a solid understanding of technological trends and their implications for business and education; and
- Experience in an educational setting is an asset.
COMPENSATIONANDBENEFITS****OFFERED
The salary range for this position is between $150,000 - $180,000 per annum, in addition to a comprehensive benefits plan, generous vacation time and an RRSP after one year of service. We also offer subsidized parking or TTC transit fare and subsidized lunch in our Cafeteria during the school year.
