As a Security Access Administrator, you will be responsible for all aspects of security access card administration for more than 15,000 City of Calgary employees. Primary duties include:

  • Administer security card access requests including ticket assignment, response, approvals, programming of cards within Access Control software, manage logistics of mailing/pickup locations, and confirmation resolution response to end users.
  • Update access permissions when employees change work locations or positions.
  • De-activate access cards when staff leave the organization.
  • Attend team meetings, respond to escalations and requests from leadership.
  • Manage work orders related to daily tasks.
  • Administer City Site Approvers and action communications of policy changes to all necessary users.
  • Assist Security Systems Administrators on user requests for access related to Physical Security software systems.
  • Respond to end user questions and concerns that may come up with the Security Access Card Administration policies.

Qualifications

  • A High School Diploma or equivalent (e.g. GED) plus job related course work in Information Technology (IT) and at least 1 year of IT related experience.
  • Previous experience providing a high level of customer service is preferred.
  • An intermediate level of proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook) is required, along with the ability to enter data in an accurate and proficient manner.
  • Experience with Access Control software, Ticketing software and/or Asset Management software will be considered assets.
  • Experience with IT hardware such as desktops, laptops and peripherals will also be considered an asset.
  • Strong communication skills, well developed analytical and problem solving skills, excellent organizational and time management skills, and the ability to multitask.

Pre-employment Requirements

  • A security clearance will be conducted.
  • Successful applicants must provide proof of qualifications.

Position and Pay Information

Business Unit: Corporate Security

Union: CUPE Local 38

Position Type: 1 Temporary (up to 9 months)

Compensation: Pay Grade 4 $29.76 - 39.76 per hour

Hours of work: Standard 35 hour work week.

Days of work: This position works a 5-day work week with 1 day off in a 3 week cycle.

Location: 800 Macleod Trail SE
