Occupational Therapist
Full Time – 35 hours/week

The Occupational Therapist will provide services to students from pre-kindergarten through Grade 12 who qualify for support, addressing motor skills, sensory processing, visual perception, self-help, mental health, and trauma - related challenges that impact school performance. The role also focuses on identifying and mitigating environmental barriers and supporting students with neurological disorders, injuries, and other conditions. This position supports school teams through both individualized interventions and the implementation of universal strategies to benefit all learners.

Qualifications & Duties:

Apply foundational knowledge about First Nations, Métis and Inuit for the benefit of all students, and support the Division's goals towards advancing Truth and Reconciliation

Bachelor or Master's degree in Occupational Therapy and registered member of ACOT.

Responsible for assessment, goal development, consultation and planning to support motor, self-care, sensory, and social-emotional regulation areas.

Responsible for planning and modelling group activities to address learning goals in collaboration with classroom teachers.
-
Communicate with parents/guardians in consultation with school team.
-
Collaborate with team members including administration, teachers, support staff, parents/guardians, other multidisciplinary members as well as outside agencies.

Experience working with children with diverse needs.
-
High energy level and ability to lift, move and physically support children in play.
-
Strong philosophy of learning through play for young children.
-
Excellent organizational skills, written and verbal reporting skills.
-
Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate with team members and parents.
-
Familiar with a variety of technology and equipment supports to assist learning.
-
Experience with positive behavior supports.
-
Collaborate with division staff including directors and consultants to develop and deliver professional development opportunities. Take part in Collaborative Response meetings when appropriate.
