ABOUT THE TEAM The Construction portfolio within the School of Skilled Trades and Technologies at RRC Polytech equips students with the skills and knowledge to thrive in Manitoba’s construction industry. Our programs include several skilled construction trades as well as Engineering Technologies and related programs. WHAT YOU WILL DO Reporting to the Chair, Civil Engineering Technology - Infrastructure, Red River College Polytechnic is looking for a full-time Instructor for the Civil Engineering Technology Program. Responsibilities include classroom instruction, supervision and guidance of students, student evaluation, advising of students, maintenance of student records and other professional duties related to instruction. Subject areas include environmental assessment and management, solid waste management and hazardous waste characterization, water and wastewater systems, and project management. The incumbent is also required to participate in department and College committees, recruiting events, and assist in student orientation and graduation activities.
WHAT YOU WILL BRING A diploma or degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related environmental field Significant and relevant work experience in the environmental or civil sectors Strong verbal and written communication skills Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to use conflict resolution techniques to facilitate positive outcomes Strong presentation skills Ability to teach on campus and remotely Ability to work independently as well as in small to large group settings Experience building a respectful culture that promotes equity, diversity, and inclusion Experience working with diverse individuals, including newcomers, international, indigenous, 2SLGBTQIA* and neurodiverse people Commitment to lifelong learning Demonstrated leadership skills Demonstrated experience using Microsoft Office Suite Experience building a respectful workplace culture that promotes diversity, learning and continuous improvement
NICE TO HAVE Familiarity with AI tools and willingness to adopt new technologies Experience in Teaching for Learning or Adult Education Experience using a Learning Management System (LMS) to deliver blended (synchronous and asynchronous) instruction Project management experience Industry-related experience with solid and hazardous waste management Experience developing curriculum and instructing at a post-secondary level Experience developing and instructing distance-delivered courses including online
