About the role:
This position is responsible for leading the strategic planning, execution and continuous evolution of technology initiatives of the United Way Alberta Capital Region. This role involves championing digital transformation efforts, integrating emerging technologies, overseeing design and implementation to optimize technology solutions that will empower our teams and enhance service delivery. The Director oversees the day to day operation of technology and innovation in the development and transformation of enterprise data strategy, governance and management practices to drive improvements to systems, processes and capabilities creating a data informed and insight driven organization. The role requires strong business acumen, leadership skills, strategic thinking, and the ability to understand business requirements as well as foster cross functional innovation.
The Day to Day:
Enterprise Systems and Integration Management

Direct the design, implementation, administration, and ongoing optimization of enterprise systems and infrastructure—including enterprise applications, data repositories, network environments, and servers—ensuring secure, scalable, and reliable operations with high levels of system availability, performance, and compliance with established architecture, security, and technology standards.

Serve as the product owner of our Salesforce (CRM), defining and managing priorities and outcomes to ensure both day-to-day functionality and continuous improvement

Lead the evaluation and integration of emerging technologies—including agentic AI, AIOps, and autonomous systems—into operational workflows, ensuring alignment with organizational values, risk frameworks, and strategic goals.
Data Strategy and Governance

Lead further development and transformation of enterprise data strategy, governance, and management practices, strengthening the organization’s ability to collect, manage, and use data effectively to support operational performance, decision-making, and strategic planning.

Lead information privacy and compliance thought the information management framework to ensure compliance with privacy requirements and internal governance.

Drive standards for how teams communicate, collaborate, and store content across M365 and to improve findability and reduce risk.

Oversee the data management and analytics team in advancing modern data practices—including data quality, integration, reporting, and analytics—driving improvements to systems, processes, and capabilities that enable a more data-informed and insight-driven organization.

Consults and liaises with internal teams and stakeholders to resolve challenges related to cross-functional data and information work. Assesses issues, makes recommendations, and supports solution development by providing additional training, developing new processes and rolling them out to the organization, leading requirements gathering sessions, assigning research and development projects, etc.
Technology Operations, Security, and Vendor Management

Oversee day-to-day technology operations, including management of third-party service providers and vendors, ensuring reliable delivery of IT services, adherence to service level agreements, and alignment with organizational technology standards.

Establish and maintain cybersecurity and access management practices, including user access reviews, security monitoring, and implementation of policies and controls that safeguard organizational systems, data, and digital assets.

Develop and maintain operational IT policies, procedures, and controls to support secure and efficient use of technology, including incident response, system maintenance, and compliance with organizational and regulatory requirements.

Ensures that existing technologies are well utilized, and that staff are trained to leverage the technology, improving overall organizational efficiency and effectiveness.
Leadership and Operational Management

Provide leadership and direction to the systems, technology and data team, including setting priorities, supporting professional development, and fostering a collaborative, service-oriented culture that aligns with organizational goals.

Plan, manage, and monitor departmental budgets, ensuring responsible stewardship of financial resources and alignment of technology investments with strategic and operational priorities.

Establish annual work plans and performance objectives for the team, monitoring progress and adjusting priorities to support evolving organizational needs.

Build strong partnerships across the organization to ensure technology and data services effectively support programs, operations, and strategic initiatives.

Demonstrates strong business leadership skills that drive innovation, foster collaboration and deliver measurable business impact.

About you:
You possess knowledge of enterprise systems, cloud platforms, and data management practices, including governance, security, and analytics. You are proficient in Salesforce CRM as a super user, Admin or product owner and have experience managing multiple integrations to maintain Salesforce as a central source of truth. You are skilled in leading technology and data teams, driving performance, development, and collaboration and demonstrate precision around leveraging qualitative and quantitative data to drive systems design and impact. Expert level knowledge around Microsoft product stack.
You have the capability to plan, implement, and optimize complex technology initiatives, systems, and integrations with proven competence to manage technology vendors and service providers to ensure reliable, compliant, and cost-effective operations. Your capacity to translate organizational needs into effective technology and data solutions align with our organization’s strategic priorities. You excel at organizing and leveraging information, people, time, and resources to achieve results efficiently—always working within established organizational hierarchy, processes, systems, and policies. You can set clear priorities and define actionable steps for yourself and others to successfully reach specific goals. With your strong communication skills you will be able to convey technical concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders.
Your background includes a post-secondary undergraduate degree in Business, Computer Information Systems, Information Technology or related field plus four to six years of supervisory experience.
