About the role

Job Summary

Reporting directly to the Director of Marketing, the Brand Manager will ensure the highest quality and consistency across all visual brand assets for Wood Buffalo Media Group (WBMG) and its diverse client portfolio. The incumbent will be the agency's expert in visual branding, responsible for elevating client brands through strategic design and meticulous quality control.

The incumbent will conduct all activities in a manner that supports the mission, vision, and values of WBMG, while ensuring compliance with established Policies and Procedures.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Oversee and ensure the quality and consistency of all graphic design projects produced by the agency, adhering to established brand guidelines and design principles.

  • Lead the branding revamp process for new clients, developing comprehensive brand guidelines, visual identities, and design aesthetics that align with client objectives and market positioning.

  • Work closely with WBMG team, providing guidance, feedback, and support to ensure all design outputs meet WBMG's standards prior to client delivery or publication.

  • Collaborate effectively to understand client needs, translate strategic briefs into compelling visual solutions, and ensure design deliverables align with overall client strategies.

  • Manage multiple branding and design projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines.

  • Prepare and deliver presentations on brand concepts and design strategies to clients, articulating design rationale and securing approvals.

  • Identify opportunities to improve workflows, creative processes, and client experience.

  • Monitor market trends and competitor activity to identify opportunities.

  • Conduct customer and market research to understand client needs.

  • Evaluate campaign effectiveness and recommend improvements.

  • Support product launches and promotional activities; and,

  • Other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Diploma in Marketing, Business Administration, Communications, Public Relations, or related field is required.

  • Five (5) years of design experience, with a strong portfolio demonstrating expertise in brand identity development, graphic design, and/or visual communication, is required.

  • A combination of relevant post-secondary education and experience may be considered.

  • Valid Class 5 Alberta Driver’s License and a clean drivers abstract are required.

  • Criminal Record Check is required.

  • Knowledge of digital marketing, social media platforms, and content strategy.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

  • Proficient in industry-standard design software (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite: Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign). Strong understanding of branding principles, typography, color theory, and layout.

  • Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.

  • Exceptional attention to detail, ability to provide constructive feedback, and a collaborative team player.

  • Excellent planning and organizational skills.

  • Proficient with all Microsoft Office Suite applications; and,

  • Understanding of, or willingness to learn about, Métis culture and the history of the McMurray Métis community, ensuring culturally respectful and aligned marketing initiatives.
