This role sits within Northpoint Commercial Finance, a subsidiary of Laurentian Bank. Northpoint provides expert, flexible and personal inventory and equipment financing solutions to manufacturers, dealers and end-users across the U.S. and Canada.

This role is responsible for originating, structuring, and closing equipment financing solutions for a broad range of IT hardware, software, and services for Mid-Market, Corporate and Public Sector end user clients in Western Canada. This role requires a hybrid solicitation strategy in building relationships with technology vendors, distributors, value-added resellers, managed service providers, and system integrators to assist with lead generation as well as direct solicitation to end-user clients. The ideal candidate has a strong understanding of IT procurement cycles and the ability to craft flexible financial solutions to support their client’s digital transformation initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Prospect and acquire new end-user clients seeking to finance IT equipment, including data centre equipment, end user devices, networking, software, and services.
  • Retain and develop a well-established existing base of end user clients. Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, ensuring a smooth customer experience for the entire life cycle.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with IT vendors, distributors, value-added resellers, managed service providers, and systems integrators to assist with lead generation.
  • Identify and cultivate new high potential end user client prospects thru a hybrid go-to market strategy of direct solicitation and vendor referrals.
  • Attend industry trade shows and networking events to promote NCF financing solutions.
  • Develop financing proposals, including leases, instalment payment plans, bundled financing for hardware, software, and services as well as subscription / as a service model that meet the needs of the client, are aligned with NCF lending parameters, and maximize profitability.
  • Manage the end-to-end sales cycle including needs assessment, structuring proposals, negotiating terms, and closing transactions. Maintain a consistent pipeline of qualified leads and opportunities.
  • Drive results by exceeding sales targets and delivering on key performance indicators.
  • In partnership with Sales Analysts, prepare credit applications including financial statement analysis, transactional underwriting and investment recommendations.
  • Works in close collaboration with other members of the company to ensure timely product delivery and customer fulfillment.
  • Maintains an awareness of market trends, industry-related legislation, and competitor strengths, to maximize prospecting effectiveness and source new business opportunities.
  • Ensures compliance with Bank policies and applicable legislation in all dealings.
  • Performs other related duties as required and/or as requested by the Vice President.

Qualifications

  • University degree in a relevant field combined with 5 plus years of commercial lending experience with an emphasis on equipment financing and leasing.
  • Proven track record in business development, relationship management and deal negotiation.
  • Executive level interpersonal and customer interface skills, including selling sophisticated financial programs to CEOs, CFOs, Treasurers, Senior Sales Executives, etc.
  • Experience analysing financial statements.
  • Understanding of IT products and services within the technology industry as well as the companies that participate in it.
  • Full understanding of lease and loan structures and products, and how to promote such products to match customer needs.
  • Proven ability to structure financial transactions.
  • Verifiable presentation and written communication skills.
  • Ability to manage priorities and deliver in a timely manner.
  • Ability to travel within assigned territory or to client / partner meetings as needed.
  • Exceptional team player who demonstrates integrity in dealings with all stakeholders

Preferred Qualifications

  • Although not a requirement, an MBA, CA or CFA accreditations would be an asset.
  • Proven successful sales record of providing IT financing to Mid-Market, Corporate and Public Sector entities.
