VanPile is seeking a Project Manager – Marine Projects with a strong estimating mindset to lead complex marine construction projects while playing a key role in shaping how we price, plan, and pursue our future work. This role offers a unique blend of project leadership and preconstruction influence, working closely with our Estimating Division to lead core estimates and establish a strategic vision for profitable, well‑planned project delivery.
You’ll be involved early—helping define project approach, risk strategy, and pricing—then carry that vision through execution in the field.

Your Role & Responsibilities
As a Project Manager (Marine Projects), you will be responsible for both preconstruction leadership and successful project execution, including:
Preconstruction & Estimating Leadership- Lead and support core estimates in collaboration with the Estimating Division
- Develop pricing strategies, risk assessments, construction methodologies, and submission narratives
- Review drawings, specifications, quantities, and schedules to drive accurate, competitive estimates
- Provide executive‑level insight on constructability, risk mitigation, and cost certainty
Project Execution & Delivery- Lead marine projects from award through completion, ensuring safety, quality, schedule, and financial performance
- Manage contracts, change orders, progress reporting, and claims strategy
- Oversee subcontractor negotiations, coordination, and performance
- Maintain strong job cost forecasting, billing, and financial controls
Leadership & Client Engagement- Act as a key client interface and support business development efforts
- Mentor and develop Project Managers, Coordinators, and Engineers
- Champion VanPile’s Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) culture across all phases
What You Bring
Education
- Degree or Diploma in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering
Experience
- 8+ years of project management experience in marine or heavy civil construction
- Proven involvement in estimating, budgeting, and project financial strategy
Professional Registration
- Registered or eligible to register as AScT, EIT, or P.Eng. in British Columbia
Technical & Financial Expertise
- Strong knowledge of marine construction methods (piles, barges, cranes, foundations)
- Deep understanding of cost modelling, forecasting, and risk management
- Proficiency with scheduling and project controls tools (e.g., MS Project)
Other Requirements
- Valid driver’s license
- Commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement
