Reports to: Director, Finance Business Partnering, Post Trade

As a key member of the Finance Business Partnering (FBP) team, you will support TMX's Post Trade businesses (CDS and CDCC). This is an opportunity to grow into the role of a financial coach and strategic advisor, simplifying complex FP&A analysis for senior leaders and empowering them to make sound, data-driven decisions. Your primary focus will be on supporting the financial aspects of Post Trade's project portfolio, from business case development and financial modeling to portfolio governance and post-mortem analysis.

This role is hybrid (2 - 3 days/week in the office) - based in Toronto, ON

Key Accountabilities

Finance Business Partnering for Projects and Strategic Initiatives:

  • Lead the financial aspects of all strategic initiatives. Serve as the finance lead for Post Trade strategic initiatives, including new business, product development, M&A, and strategic partnerships.
  • Support the development of robust business cases. Collaborate with stakeholders to create comprehensive business cases that outline benefits, costs, and risks, and provide funding recommendations.
  • Manage project budgets and forecasts. Lead the budgeting and forecasting for the entire Post Trade project portfolio, overseeing the financial management of individual projects, and ensuring they are completed on budget.
  • Drive governance and review. Champion portfolio governance by facilitating routine review meetings with senior leaders on project portfolio performance and financial health.
  • Communicate project financial insights. Effectively communicate key FP&A perspectives to stakeholders, business leaders, and the Post Trade Board using visuals and storytelling. This includes the preparation of business plan presentation materials for the business leadership team, corporate FP&A, and the Post Trade Board.
  • Provide ongoing financial guidance. Advise business unit leaders on financial management and the financial impact of their decisions, from initial business case development to post-mortem analysis.

Other:

  • Perform financial modeling for the strategic planning process, risk sensitivity, and product analysis.
  • Collaborate with colleagues and stakeholders to infuse predictive analytics into forecasting and profitability analysis.
  • Act as the "voice of the internal customer" in meetings with FP&A and technology teams to design intuitive reports, analyses, and dashboards.
  • Work with technology teams to ensure decision support tools provide actionable advice.
  • Assist the Corporate finance & development team with any projects.
  • Perform ad hoc analysis as required for the overall Post Trade Finance Business Partnering Team.
  • Back up for Senior Manager, Finance Business Partnering and understanding business revenues and operating expenses.
  • Working with all finance functions to ensure accounting treatment of transactions for Post Trade projects are accurate and complete in the general ledger. For complex accounting issues, consult as appropriate with the TMX Controllership team.
  • Work with the external auditors on quarterly reviews and annual audits.
  • Support the maintenance of a reliable system of internal controls over financial reporting to adequately safeguard the company’s assets and provide with integrity accurate reporting on financial results and in accordance with the requirements for CEO/CFO certification.

Must Have(s):

  • University graduate; a CPA or CFA designation is preferred.
  • 5-8 years of progressive FP&A, operational finance, corporate finance, or business decision support experience.
  • Strong analytical skills with a good understanding of accounting principles and practices.
  • Strong technical skills in Excel (pivot tables, model building), ERP systems, and the Google Suite of products.
  • Communication and Storytelling: Exceptional ability to effectively convey complex financial insights, analysis, and recommendations through clear and compelling storytelling.
  • Financial Coaching: Competence in coaching and training decision-makers to internalize and apply FP&A concepts.
  • Problem-Solving: Ability to challenge assumptions, identify root causes, and develop effective solutions.
  • Continuous Improvement: Experience working in an agile environment and the ability to define success criteria and establish measurable metrics.
  • Highly motivated team player and self-starter with excellent attention to detail.
  • Comfortable working to tight deadlines.

Nice to Have(s):

  • Ability to leverage digital technologies to drive better outcomes and understanding of emerging technologies to communicate and drive tool requirements with IT.
  • Experience with Workday
