Position Summary
Reporting to the Quality Manager, the CMM Programmer will play a key role in ensuring product quality through precise inspection and programming of automotive components. This role requires strong technical expertise in CMM programming (PC-DMIS), GD&T, and quality assurance practices to support customer satisfaction and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Program and operate CMM equipment using PC-DMIS for inspection of injection moulded and surface-finished parts.
- Perform detailed part inspections to verify compliance with specifications and drawings.
- Complete First Article Inspection (FAI) reports in accordance with ISO standards.
- Evaluate products for acceptance, initiate rejection processes when required, and maintain accurate traceability records.
- Apply GD&T principles to inspection processes, ensuring measurement accuracy.
- Support continuous improvement through application of 5S and Just-In-Time principles.
- Conduct Measurement System Analysis (MSA), including gauge R&R studies.
- Prepare reports, documentation, and maintain quality records in QMS and other systems.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams while working independently under minimal supervision.
- Work safely with heavy parts, utilizing assistive devices as needed.
Qualifications
- Post-secondary training in CMM programming/operation.
- Minimum 2 years of CMM programming experience using PC-DMIS.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably automotive.
- Strong knowledge of GD&T and ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.
- Hands-on experience with manual and automated CMM operation.
- Proficiency with inspection tools, gauges, and measurement system analysis techniques.
- Knowledge of calibration systems and quality audits is an asset.
- Strong computer skills (QMS, MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, changing production environment.
- Occasional travel within Ontario may be required.
- Ability to differentiate product colours.
