About the role

WARNER SCHOOL

Warner School is an Early Learning – grade 12 school located approx. 69 km south of Lethbridge, Alberta. Our 14 staff provide a service to approximately 110 students.

Temporary Early Learning Educator – approx. 8 hours/week

Hours of work: Monday 8:05 a.m.-4:05 p.m. & occasional Friday’s 8:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m.

Assignment includes; We are looking for an Early Learning Educator who is energetic, positive, and caring. The ability to work with learners in our Early Learning program is essential to this assignment.

The successful candidate must be:

  • patient
  • flexible
  • adaptable
  • able to work within a team environment
  • empathetic

Experience in a program leadership role and Early Childhood Education Certificate or Diploma is preferred. Hanen training for Early Childhood Educators, SIVA Training and Emergency or Standard First Aid is considered an asset.

An Educational Assistant in Horizon School Division:

  • Encourages students to develop and maintain positive interaction.
  • Maintains confidentiality and a patient, supportive and enthusiastic commitment to students.
  • As required, provides personal care including toileting, diapering, feeding, dressing, grooming, etc. ensuring that student dignity is maintained. Attends to physical needs including lifting, positioning, and range of motion programs as identified by appropriate personnel.
  • Ensures the safety of students in the school and community, which includes maintaining close supervision of students, ensuring student equipment is sanitized and put away, retrieving students who attempt to leave their learning environment, calming and/or restraining students engaged in challenging behaviours; supervising and assisting students who utilize a variety of life skill tools (i.e., scissors, cooking utensils, etc.).
  • Maintains collegial relationships with the students' learning team.
