Job Description Union: Non-Union
Site: Toronto General Hospital
Department: Emergency
Reports to: Manager
Hours: 37.5 Hours per Week
Status: Permanent Full-Time
Closing Date: September 4, 2025
Duties As a member of the Toronto General Hospital Emergency Department, the Patient Care Coordinator acts as a resource for the multidisciplinary team. This position will play a leadership role by mentoring and providing direction, ongoing development and preceptorship to team members. The principal responsibilities include: performing financial/administrative responsibilities to ensure safe, efficient and effective unit operation; contributing to staff development by promoting and ensuring a supportive/collaborative learning environment within the unit; performing human resources responsibilities; liaising with members of the multi-disciplinary team to ensure high standards of quality and optimal management of patient care outcomes; performing cross-functional and/or other duties consistent with the job classification as assigned or requested.
Qualifications
- Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario required
- Baccalaureate degree in Nursing required; Master’s degree an asset
- Basic Cardiac Life Support (B.C.L.S.) required; Advanced Cardiac Life Support (A.C.L.S.) an asset
- Minimum three years recent Emergency nursing experience required; experience working in a supervisory capacity an asset
- Demonstrates membership within a professional association and/or professional interest groups related to practice
- Demonstrated strong leadership and motivational skills, with ability to help staff understand the relationship to their work and organizational goals
- Demonstrates ability to work in a team environment and collaborates with others in assisting with the delivery of care to patients
- Demonstrated leadership abilities
- Excellent skills in recognizing, analyzing and resolving problems
- Excellent time management skills
- Excellent decision making and problem solving skills
- Ability to perform duties in a professional and courteous manner and produce high quality work while meeting deadlines in accordance to UHN standards
- Exercise initiative and good judgement with the ability to multi-task
- Adapts to and implements change and facilitates its acceptance by others
- Maintains and protects patient confidentiality in accordance with UHN Confidentiality policy requirements
- Effective organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills
- Knowledge of applicable legislative, UHN and/or departmental policies
- Client service oriented, with the ability to effectively work with a diverse team and patient population and appreciate that people with different opinions, backgrounds and characteristics bring richness to the challenge or situation at hand
- Must be flexible and possess the ability to work effectively and efficiently within a variety of patient care teams
- Proficient with Epic, Microsoft Office applications
