Job Summary and Requirements
This is for one full-time TERM (anticipatory permanent) position, working 75 hours bi-weekly. Temporary Assignments will be considered.
Anticipated start date: April 2, 2026
End of TERM: November 30, 2027

The Mineral Resources Branch of the Department of Energy Mines and Resources is responsible for the development of a sustainable mining industry in the Yukon. The team develops and delivers policies, strategies, programs and legislative instruments to support integrated resource management.
This position is a key member of the branch supervisory team, leading the consultation unit for the Mineral Resources Branch. This work includes all aspects of Branch functions such as mineral tenure, mining exploration authorization and mine licensing. This role ensures that Branch consultation requirements meet evolving legislative and Crown legal obligations in Yukon’s mining sector.

Essential Qualifications

- Post-secondary degree in public administration, political science, natural resources or a related field
- Demonstrated knowledge of the legal and policy framework governing the Crown’s duty to consult, preferably for natural resource program areas
- Experience providing strategic advice and recommendations on consultation risks, mitigation measures, and accommodation options
- Experience preparing consultation records, concise briefing materials, and formal correspondence
- Experience supervising staff by providing direction and performance management and/or development and mentorship of a team
Candidates who have a combination of education, training and experience equivalent to the essential qualifications listed above may be equally considered.

- oral and written communication skills
