About the role

This Is a Great Job — For the Right Clinician

If you’re a grounded, skilled therapist who wants to do real clinical work, be well-supported, and build a full, sustainable caseload without the private-practice scramble, you’ll probably love it here.

At Limestone Clinic, clinicians are often around 95% booked when they:

  • Offer consistent in-person availability (especially evenings), and
  • Use the clinic’s systems and mentor the way they’re designed to be used.

We provide the infrastructure, referrals, and client matching that make a strong caseload possible. As an Independent Contractor, you remain responsible for your clinical work, documentation, and professional obligations.

If you want to do meaningful therapy, leave proud of your day, and still have a life — keep reading

Role Structure (Please Read)

Clinicians practice autonomously and are responsible for their clinical work, documentation, scheduling boundaries, and professional practice requirements. Limestone provides referrals, intake flow, operational systems, office space, optional psychologist supervision, optional mentorship, and a collaborative clinical environment.

Our Philosophy (Read This Carefully)

Limestone Clinic is unapologetically Anti-Beige*.*

We don’t do vague, overly supportive therapy designed to keep everyone comfortable while nothing really changes. We believe good therapy is engaged, skilled, sometimes uncomfortable, and ultimately transformational.

Our clinicians know how to:

  • Sit with uncertainty
  • Stay regulated when clients are frustrated, ambivalent, or dysregulated
  • Work through complexity without rushing to fix, rescue, or appease
  • Seek consultation when it improves outcomes

If that excites you — welcome. If that makes you nervous — this probably isn’t your place, and that’s okay.

You’ll Thrive Here If You Are:

  • A licensed mental health professional who values clinical depth
  • Warm, grounded, and steady in the face of emotional intensity
  • Comfortable when sessions don’t wrap up neatly
  • Curious, coachable, and committed to ongoing skill development
  • Someone who wants to build a sustainable private-practice rhythm
  • A team-oriented adult (low drama, high responsibility)

You’re not trying to be endlessly liked. You’re trying to be effective.

Trauma Work at Limestone (Important)

Trauma-informed is the floor, not the ceiling.

You are either:

  • Already trained in evidence-based trauma approaches (EMDR, Brainspotting, CPT, etc.), or
  • Actively committed to developing those skills immediately and meaningfully

Avoidance is not a strategy here.

Mentorship & Consultation (Our Secret Sauce)

We offer truly excellent mentoring/consultation for clinicians who want it — and it’s one of the biggest reasons people grow fast here.

In Preston’s words (current clinician):

“It felt tailored to me… it felt like each session was, like, an exponential growth.”

“Consultation has been a huge part of it… financially, confidence-wise… It’s just been all a benefit.”

Here’s the honest part: clinicians who engage in mentoring and feedback, and who are willing to give the clinic’s way of running sessions a go, tend to:

  • fill faster
  • retain clients longer
  • and stay more consistently booked.

We support our therapists' growth and autonomy — and we’re transparent that we can’t guarantee booking outcomes for clinicians who opt out of mentorship/consultation or resist clinical guidance.

Culture: What It Feels Like Here

If you’ve worked in competitive environments, this will matter.

Preston again:

“Before I was here, I felt like other therapists were kind of like sharks… I needed to be wary.”

“What I found was people who were the exact opposite… people who weren’t going to embarrass you if you didn’t know something.”

“It felt like being welcomed into a friend circle… there’s so much laughter. We laugh a lot.”

That’s the vibe: warm, competent humans doing serious work — without weird power games.

What Our Clinicians Say

“I don’t spend my energy worrying about referrals or admin. I get to focus on therapy and go home without feeling fried.”

“This is the first place I’ve worked where doing good therapy and having a sustainable life weren’t in conflict.”

“I feel more confident, more regulated, and more financially stable. The structure actually makes the work easier.”

“The culture is honest and supportive. People talk things through instead of letting things fester.”

What We Offer

  • A steady referral stream and strong intake flow
  • Thoughtful client–therapist matching
  • Operational systems that reduce chaos (while you remain responsible for clinical documentation/admin)
  • A collaborative, no–lone-wolf culture
  • Fully furnished, professional office space
  • Optional monthly group supervision with a PhD-level psychologist
  • Flexibility within structured time blocks

Note: In-person clinicians fill faster and retain longer. We are especially interested in clinicians available for in-office evening hours. Virtual-only clinicians are not a fit at this time.

The Stretch (A Good One)

This clinic will likely stretch you in the direction of structure and boundaries — and most clinicians find it improves their life and their work.

Preston:

“I had to be more intentional with my scheduling and boundaries… it really helped me manage my life better.”

“Clients actually do get better… because they’re coming here regularly. It’s not like a loosey-goosey schedule.”

If you hate structure and want total looseness, you’ll hate it here. If you want sustainable excellence, you’ll probably love it.

This Role Is NOT for You If:

  • You need clients to feel better every session, to feel competent
  • You prefer therapy that stays calm, affirming, and emotionally tidy
  • You avoid depth because it feels “too heavy” or scary
  • You want autonomy without accountability
  • You dislike consultation, feedback, or being challenged to grow
  • You’re looking for a solo practice disguised as a group practice

No hard feelings — just clarity.

Qualifications

  • Clinical Master’s degree in a mental health field
  • Autonomous registration in Ontario (CRPO, CPBAO, etc. — CCC alone does not permit the controlled act of psychotherapy in Ontario)
  • Strong experience treating anxiety and depression
  • Trauma-ready or trauma-committed
  • Solid professional references
  • Tech-comfortable and reliable
  • Independent and team-oriented (yes, you change the toilet paper roll)

Next Step: Short Video Screening

Before interviews, selected applicants will be invited to submit a 3–5 minute video answering a few questions. This helps ensure mutual fit and respects everyone’s time.

You’ll be asked:

  • What excites you about this role and our clinic philosophy?
  • Tell us about a time therapy got hard — and how you stayed grounded.
  • What kind of clinical work drains you most, and how do you manage that?
  • What does “doing good therapy” mean to you in practice?

To Apply

Please submit:

  • Your resume
  • A thoughtful cover letter (include the words “pink baby elephant” so we know you read this)
  • Professional references

If you’re looking for a clinic that takes therapy seriously, supports your growth, and isn’t afraid to stand for something — we’d love to hear from you.

Compensation:

$105 - $140 hourly

Responsibilities:

  • Provide high-quality psychotherapy to adult clients (primarily in-person; virtual may be available within clinic structure)
  • Complete timely, accurate clinical documentation and maintain records consistent with Ontario standards and your regulatory body
  • Collaborate with Limestone intake/admin systems to support client matching, scheduling flow, and client experience
  • Maintain clear boundaries and session structure (including timekeeping and treatment planning that supports meaningful progress)
  • Engage in consultation/mentorship and team culture activities as appropriate (case consults, clinical learning, community)
  • Practice ethically and within scope; manage risk appropriately and refer out when needed
  • Participate in a clinic culture where directness, warmth, celebration of each others' accomplishments, and accountability coexist

Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree (or higher) in a mental health field (e.g., psychotherapy, counselling psychology, social work, etc)
  • Autonomous registration/licensure in Ontario, permitting the controlled act of psychotherapy (e.g., CRPO, CPBAO, or other applicable Ontario regulatory colleges)
  • CCC alone does not qualify to perform the controlled act of psychotherapy in Ontario
  • Strong clinical experience with anxiety and depression; trauma-competent or actively trauma-committed (EMDR/Brainspotting/CPT/trauma-focused modalities welcome)
  • Comfortable with emotionally intense work and clients who don’t necessarily improve on a tidy timeline
  • Coachable, growth-oriented, and willing to use consultation/mentorship when it improves outcomes
  • Tech-comfortable (email, calendar, PDFs, Janeapp, Slack)
  • Reliable, professional, friendly, good judgment, clear boundaries
  • Able to work in-person in Kingston, ON (evening availability strongly preferred)
  • Preferred: 2+ years post-registration clinical experience (or equivalent depth), but we hire for fit + competence

About Limestone Clinic

Hospitals and Health Care
11-50

Limestone Clinic is an Anti-Beige psychotherapy practice based in Kingston, Ontario.

We specialize in anxiety, depression, and trauma, and we’re known for therapy that is active, engaged, and results-oriented — not vague, passive, or endlessly supportive at the expense of real change.

We believe good therapy sometimes feels steady and grounding — and sometimes feels uncomfortable, disorganizing, or emotionally intense before things improve. Our clinicians are expected to tolerate that messiness without panicking, rescuing, or defaulting to surface-level reassurance.

We value clinical skill, emotional maturity, accountability, and ongoing learning. Our team is collaborative, curious, and deeply committed to doing meaningful work — with clients and with each other.

At Limestone Clinic, therapists are supported, paid well, and freed from the hustle of marketing, admin, and referral-chasing so they can focus on what actually matters: doing excellent psychotherapy and going home without dread.

We are unapologetically anti-beige. If you’re looking for therapy (or a workplace) that’s pleasant but stagnant, we’re not your people. If you want depth, integrity, and real transformation — welcome.
