Description

The SAP Technical Business Analyst (TBA) in this role supports the program Business Lead and Solution/Technical Leads by translating business needs into clear, testable requirements and solution designs for SAP S/4HANA and integrated solutions within the SAP Plus Program. The role ensures requirements are traceable from process and controls through configuration, integrations, data, and reporting, and that they are communicated consistently across functional, technical, and vendor teams.

This role works with the System Integrator, Functional, Technical, Data, Security, and Business teams to elicit and document requirements, facilitate design workshops, and enable test readiness through high-quality scenarios and defect reproduction details. The Technical Business Analyst maintains key artifacts in the controlled repository (requirements, decisions, and sign-offs) and escalates risks, scope gaps, and cross-workstream dependencies that impact timelines, compliance, or operational readiness.

Role

Key tasks for this role would include

Elicit, analyze, and document business and technical requirements, including integrations, data, reporting, and security/control needs. Facilitate workshops; capture decisions, assumptions, and dependencies; maintain traceability from requirement to solution and test evidence. Define user stories and acceptance criteria (or detailed requirements where applicable) and support backlog refinement and scope/change control. Support test planning by translating requirements into scenarios and expected results; support defect triage by clarifying intent and reproducing issues with evidence. Produce governance-ready reporting on requirement status, open decisions, risks/issues, and readiness impacts across workstreams. Key Interfaces Vendors (SI, SAP, third party) Align test approach, schedules, environments, defect triage, and delivery quality; ensure evidence and traceability meet program standards Project Manager Align scope, milestones, dependencies, and RAID; support change control with impact assessments (process, data, integrations, testing, cutover). IS Business Analysts Coordinate requirements, process models, and functional design; ensure consistent traceability and reuse of standards/templates across workstreams. Business Leads Confirm business outcomes, policy/control intent, and operational impacts; drive decisions and sign-offs on requirements and process designs.

Responsibilities

Requirements, Process & Solution Definition (Responsible) Elicit and document business and technical requirements for SAP S/4HANA capabilities, integrations, reporting, data, security roles, and control objectives. Facilitate workshops to define current/future processes, pain points, and desired outcomes; capture decisions, assumptions, and open questions. Maintain traceability from requirements to design, build, test scenarios, and evidence in the controlled repository.

Backlog, Scope & Change Control (Consulted/Responsible)

Support backlog refinement by decomposing requirements into user stories (or detailed requirements), acceptance criteria, and dependencies. Perform impact assessments for change requests (process, data, integrations, security, testing, cutover) and support prioritization and decisioning.

Design Validation & Build Support (Consulted)

Review solution designs with functional and technical teams for alignment to requirements, controls, and non-functional needs. Support developers/configurators by clarifying intent, edge cases, and expected outcomes; ensure handoffs are complete and unambiguous.

Qualifications

5+ years experience in business analysis / solution delivery, including participation in at least one major ERP implementation or transformation.

Expertise

Proven experience as a Business Analyst / Technical Business Analyst on large, integrated enterprise programs (ERP transformation preferred). Strong capability in requirements elicitation, analysis, documentation, and stakeholder facilitation; able to translate business outcome requirements and criteria. Experience working across functional and technical teams to define integrations, data, reporting, and non-functional needs (performance, security, auditability).

SAP S/4HANA & Process/Controls Awareness

Working knowledge of SAP S/4HANA capabilities and standard process concepts, with the ability to engage in solution discussions and assess impacts to upstream/downstream processes. Awareness of controls and governance considerations (e.g., segregation of duties, approval design, audit evidence) and how they influence requirements and design.

Analysis, Documentation & Governance Skills

Skilled in producing high-quality artifacts: process maps, requirements specifications, user stories, acceptance criteria, decision logs, and RAID/dependency tracking. Able to operate within stage-gate and delivery governance frameworks, supporting formal sign-offs and maintaining audit-ready documentation in controlled repositories. Strong facilitation and negotiation skills to resolve ambiguities, drive decisions, and balance scope, risk, and delivery constraints.

Professional & Interpersonal Skills

Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills; able to present complex topics clearly to both business and technical audiences. Structured, detail-oriented approach to documentation, traceability, and follow-through in regulated/governed environments.

Education and Certifications

University degree in Business, Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related discipline (or equivalent experience). BA or delivery certifications (e.g., CBAP, PMI-PBA, PMP, Agile/Scrum) are considered an asset.
