The Association of Science and Engineering Technology Professionals of Alberta (ASET) is the professional regulatory body for applied science and engineering technology professionals across the province. ASET is currently seeking a Senior Manager, Operations to play a pivotal role in ensuring the effectiveness and alignment of cross-departmental operations, strategic initiatives, and executive support functions. Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer (COO), this role provides both strategic and operational leadership—translating organizational priorities into actionable plans, leading cross-functional projects, and problem-solving across the business. The Senior Manager, Operations acts as a trusted advisor and integrator, supporting enterprise-wide initiatives with agility, analytical insight, and strong project management discipline.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE

The ideal candidate is a strategic and operational generalist with strong project management expertise and a proven ability to lead through influence. They bring a balance of strategic thinking and hands-on execution, are comfortable managing multiple priorities, and thrive in a dynamic environment that requires both adaptability and attention to detail.

Highly organized and resourceful, the successful candidate can pivot quickly, problem-solve across business functions, and translate complex issues into clear, actionable plans. They demonstrate excellent analytical judgment, communication, and writing skills—particularly in preparing briefing materials and reports that inform executive decision-making.

Reporting directly to the COO, the Senior Manager, Operations works with autonomy and cross-functional authority to coordinate interdepartmental projects, drive process improvements, and ensure alignment with ASET’s strategic objectives. They are a collaborative leader, trusted advisor, and confident communicator who brings credibility, initiative, and sound business acumen to advancing ASET’s strategic and operational priorities.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Executive Operations and Integration: Support the COO by coordinating cross-departmental priorities, workflows, and executive communications; Monitor progress on strategic initiatives, ensuring timely reporting, follow-up, and decision support.
  • Strategic Projects and Organizational Improvement: Lead cross-functional projects that enhance efficiency, registrant experience, and strategic alignment; Identify and implement process improvements, performance measures, and operational best practices.
  • Program and Benefits Oversight: Oversee registrant-focused programs, ensuring quality, efficiency, and alignment with regulatory goals; Evaluate program impact and recommend enhancements to strengthen value and outcomes.
  • Education, Engagement & Outreach: Lead professional development, early-career, and outreach initiatives that build registrant engagement: Manage educational partnerships and programs such as ASET Academy and Women in Technology.
  • Team Leadership: Provide leadership to a small team, fostering collaboration, accountability, and innovation; Oversee budgets and promote continuous improvement through performance and process excellence.

QUALIFICATIONS & KEY ATTRIBUTES

Education:

  • University degree in a related field; equivalent experience may be considered.
  • Project Management certification considered an asset.

Experience:

  • Minimum 7 years of experience in operations, project management, or executive coordination roles.
  • Minimum 5 years in a senior leadership or management position.
  • Experience supporting executive-level workflows, governance models, and strategic planning.
  • Experience within a regulatory or membership organization is an asset.

COMPENSATION

ASET offers a competitive salary range of $110,000 – $125,000 annually, along with a comprehensive benefits package.
