We know that great leaders come from many paths. We welcome applications from people with relevant combinations of education, experience, and lived knowledge — including lived experience of disability.
Required
Minimum 8 years in a senior leadership role with responsibility for people and budgets Demonstrated track record in fund development: individual donors, grants, and/or corporate partnerships Experience in the nonprofit, social services, disability, or housing sector Strong relationship-building skills with community partners, funders, and government Excellent written and verbal communication skills
An asset
Lived experience of disability Knowledge of Manitoba's disability, housing, and social services landscape Experience with government relations and policy advocacy Degree in Nonprofit Management, Social Work, Public Administration, Business Administration, or a related field (or equivalent experience)

About CoHabit.ca
The dream of CoHabit came from Margy Nelson, whose son Bryce has cerebral palsy and needs a lot of support to live a good life. He still lives at home with Margy and her husband, but has wanted to live on his own for a long time. Bryce and his family aren’t satisfied with the options available, so together, they dreamed up CoHabit.
The CoHabit Model
Accessible: A fully accessible apartment building, designed and built with people with physical disabilities in mind.
Integrated: Within the apartment building, a percentage of the suites will include 24/7 disability support services. Staff are always on site.
Affordable: The suites designated for people who receive disability support services will also be affordable (for people who rely on Disability Income Support) if needed. The apartment may have a few additional affordable suites (geared to income), and the rest of the suites will be market rent. This is a truly inclusive project.
Intentional: The people who live in the apartment building will be invited to become active as a community. CoHabit will support the grassroots infrastructure and ensure that there is time and space to come together – but will look to the community to work together to decide what is important and how they will create a culture of belonging together.
