Your Opportunity
Stantec’s Canada Central Environmental Services Practice is seeking a Junior Noise, Vibration, and Acoustics (NVA) Specialist to join our expanding team in Mississauga, Ontario.
Our acoustical engineers and scientists deliver specialized services for infrastructure, building, industrial, and environmental projects across Canada and the U.S. The team provides end-to-end solutions—from permitting, modeling, and monitoring to design, planning, and policy analysis.
This role is ideal for an enthusiastic early-career professional with academic and/or practical experience in acoustics and vibration who is eager to grow under the mentorship of recognized leaders in the field.
Your Key Responsibilities
- Conduct technical analyses, field measurements, and modeling for environmental, building acoustics and vibration projects
- Support the NVA team leads with task planning, proposals, and coordination
- Prepare clear and concise technical reports and documentation
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary project teams across engineering, architecture, and environmental disciplines
- Assist in refining templates, data tools, and standardized workflows to improve efficiency and consistency
- Participate in professional development and training opportunities to build specialized expertise
- Conduct fieldwork as required, including deployment of monitoring equipment, data collection, and site coordination
Your Technical Specialty
We Are Particularly Interested In Candidates With a Foundation In Vibration Monitoring And Analysis. Experience In One Or More Of The Following Areas Will Be Considered An Asset
- Ground-borne vibration analysis via measurements and modeling due to railway and construction projects
- Structural vibration analysis via measurements and modeling including floor vibration, building vibration and mitigation design
- Finite Element (FE) modeling and analysis using SAP2000 and/or Ansys
- Experience in coding using MATLAB and/or Python
- Use of instrumentation for vibration measurement, signal processing, data interpretation, and reporting
Candidates with complementary experience in noise and acoustics are also encouraged to apply.
Your Capabilities and Credentials
- Foundational understanding of theory and measurement techniques for sound and vibration
- Familiarity with relevant software and instrumentation (e.g., CADNA/A, TNM, STAMSON, ODEON/EASE, PYTHON, MATLAB) considered an asset
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present technical information clearly
- Proficient in Microsoft Office; experience with CAD or similar tools
- Working knowledge of Ontario and Federal regulatory frameworks preferred; exposure to other jurisdictions considered an asset
- Diligent, detail-oriented, and collaborative, with a demonstrated desire to learn
- Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle required; willingness to travel within Canada and occasionally internationally
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in engineering, physics, or a related science, with coursework in acoustics, noise, or vibration.
Eligibility for EIT, P.Eng., or CET designation considered an asset but not required.
Minimum of two years of consulting, co-op, or internship experience in a related field preferred.
Recent graduates with relevant training or research experience are encouraged to apply.
Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.

Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible. Actual compensation for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on the agreed number of working hours per week.
