Your Next Challenge Reporting to the Senior Mine Engineer, Underground Operations, you will be part of the Engineering Department. You will be responsible for the short-term mine design and planning and act as the liaison between Engineering, Geology, Underground Mine Operations, and Maintenance departments regarding all production-related activities to optimize production performance through integrated planning. You will also ensure that the goals and objectives are achieved, while promoting and respecting Agnico Eagle’s culture & Code of conduct, maintaining a high Health & Safety standard, all in respect of the environment, the work procedures in place & the industry’s good practices.

  • Create weekly and monthly mine plans (with rolling 3-month outlook) in a timely manner in collaboration with engineering and geology departments, underground mine operations, development contractors and other stakeholders using Deswik;
  • Highlight the critical path in the plan, risks and opportunities for mitigation of foreseeable risks;
  • Ensure the short-range plans are clear and aligned with the long-term plans to maximize compliance to business commitments;
  • Present plans to stakeholders to achieve agreement on a unified plan;
  • Compile and verify the production data with existing database tracking tools and KPI’s;
  • Compile reconciled month end production stats and provide post mortem presentation to stakeholders outlining performance including compliance to plan;
  • Lead the design review meetings for lateral development, general level design and stope design;
  • Align weekly priorities with the Underground Surveyors;
  • Verify and approve lateral development, ventilation, mine services and construction layouts where competent;
  • Act as relief coverage for mine technicians, performing field duties such as surveying, ventilation, ground support and mine services work, as require;
  • Promote innovation and continuous improvement initiatives in safety and productivity.

What You Need To Succeed

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mining Engineering, or equivalent;
  • 5+ years of experience in underground mine engineering/operations;
  • Eligibility for Professional Engineering designation in the Province of Ontario;
  • Experience in underground high tonnage mining environment is considered an asset;
  • Excellent working knowledge of all Microsoft Office software especially Outlook, Excel, Word & PowerPoint;
  • Knowledge of Deswik CAD, SCHED and OPS is considered an asset.

Your Work Schedule

  • Schedule: 7 days of work at our Detour Lake mine site, followed by 7 days off.
  • Accommodation and meals are provided on site at no cost to the employee. Agnico Eagle provides charter flights to and from the mine site and will accommodate to cover other travelling expenses according to your location of residence in Canada.
