What would my role be?

Reporting to the Manager, Labour Relations, you will work with management staff and union representatives to foster a positive labour relations climate. You will assist the Bruyère Health management team by providing consulting services, representation, support and advice for complex labour and employment related matters including, the interpretation and application of collective agreements, policies and procedures, collective bargaining, grievance handling and resolution, mediation and arbitration, conflict investigation and resolution, disability and attendance management, discipline and performance management.

How do I qualify?

Required:

  • Undergraduate Degree in a human resources related field or equivalent combination of experience, education and training.

  • Minimum of three (3) years of relevant experience in a unionized environment.

  • Experience with Federal and Provincial legislation pertaining to employment and labour relations.

Preferred:

  • Advanced degree in Industrial Relations

  • Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP) designation

  • Fluent in French and English

What skills should I possess to succeed in the role?

  • Demonstrated knowledge of legal research, reference manuals and databases.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of legal principles, legislation, policies and framework associated with all aspects of employment and labour relations.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of the employment relationship, negotiation theory and practice, employment law, conflict resolution theory and practice.

  • Knowledge of Hospital administration and structure.

  • Skills with various computer programs, word processing and spreadsheets.

  • Skills in conflict resolution, active listening and negotiations.

  • Superior written and oral communication and presentation skills.

  • Ability to exercise appropriate judgment, tact and discretion.

  • Strong abilities in analyzing and problem solving, investigating, project and time management, and risks assessment.

  • Strong interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to relate at all levels of the organization.

  • Excellent planning and organizational skills.

  • Ability to work within a multidisciplinary team.

  • Ability to prioritize multiple demands in a fast-paced environment.

  • Intermediate computer skills.
