Compensation: $72,000 - $78,000 per annum

Summary:
The Route Supervisor oversees the safe and efficient collection of curbside recycling materials in the Atlantic Canada Region, ensuring compliance with safety protocols, provincial regulations, and company standards. This role involves scheduling, productivity tracking, reporting, and maintaining strong relationships with employees, subcontractors and external partners. The Supervisor provides coaching, fosters team culture, and promotes excellent customer service while ensuring operational goals are met.
This role will involve a balance of office-based administrative responsibilities and field-based operational oversight.
Responsibilities:
As a Route Supervisor, your duties will include but are not limited to:
- Must be thoroughly involved with all Miller Waste System safety policies and protocols.
- Thorough completion and documented follow-up on all road observations. This will include consistent and progressive discipline of subordinates when safety protocols are not adhered to.
- Ensuring compliance with all Provincial laws and Miller Waste Systems’ Health and Safety policies and procedures is mandatory.
- Scheduling of routes as well as record and time keeping.
- Oversee routing efficiency for commercial and multi-residential collection.
- Ensure the timely collection of materials in the contract area while building positive employee relations.
- Effective team building, while demonstrating and encouraging excellent customer service - this role will involve managing a high volume of service-related inquiries and concerns.
- Act as the primary line of communication with Circular Materials Atlantic (CMA) and support all EPR-related requirements.
- Maintain familiarity with the current Statement of Work (SOW) and ensure all contractual and reporting requirements are consistently met, including support for EPR contracts in New Brunswick as required.
- Daily tracking and enforcement of productivity is critical.
- Strong analytical and technical skills are required, including the use of Excel and internal reporting systems.
- Provide coaching and training for drivers failing to meet minimum service agreement.
- Accurate and complete reporting such as accident/injury reports, assistance with WCB/WorkSafe NB claims, and preparation of required operational and performance data.
- Compassion and understanding of individual needs must be practiced when required and assistance must be offered and encouraged.
- The ability to promote a team culture must be demonstrated to eliminate or reduce turnover.
- Utilize the Truxx system for route management, reporting, and operational tracking.
- Review and validate data, weights, and reports related to EPR and contractual obligations.
- Work closely with subcontractors to support performance standards, service expectations, and associated reporting requirements.
- Support budgeting and cost control activities in collaboration with the Finance team.
- Conduct regular site visits to monitor performance, safety, and service quality.
Competencies & Qualifications:
- Must adhere to Miller Waste System safety protocols and must be familiar with Occupational Health & Safety Act.
- Successful candidates will possess a valid Class 3 (or equivalent) Driver’s License, with a clean Driver’s Abstract. A valid CVOR (or equivalent provincial safety record) is required.
- Must demonstrate a strong attendance and performance record, along with proven ability to work effectively within a team environment.
- Demonstrated team-building skills with the ability to lead in a collaborative and professional manner.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, along with solid organizational and time-management abilities, are required.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook is required.
- Must be physically capable of performing the duties of the position, including assisting with material collection using both automated and manual collection systems when required.
- Flexibility is required, as this position may involve early starts, extended hours, and occasional weekend or holiday work to support operational needs.
- Bilingualism in English and French is considered a strong asset.
